A large majority of illegal immigrants don’t enter by sneaking past the border. They come here legally, with temporary work visas that last a few years, then stay after it has expired. Everyone knows this, Trump said it as well. The wall itself is more symbolic than it is practical. Whether or not people agree with the symbolic statement it’s making, is up to the individual

I don't think most people are pro illegal immigration, by that I mean okay with having no immigration policies. People are anti against what they view as inhumane, unsustainable, or ineffective treatment of illegal immigrants. Also the immigration policy in the U.S. is highly restrictive often hurting people who genuinely want to immigrate legal or employ legal immigrants. It's like what that last guy said, America has a huge appetite for cheap labor that many of these illegal immigrants are satisfying. They are just trying to escape poverty or in some cases violence in their home country. Can you blame them? The law is always flexible. It's never black and white. If that was the case any time you committed a crime everyone would always get punished by the same sentence. In reality, the justice system is a complicated mesh of appeals, reduced sentences, parole etc. This is because we acknowledge that human circumstances are unique and there can always be extenuating circumstances..... Why don't people view immigration law the same way? It's different for each person, it's never that black and white.

So the only other option is to passively prevent people from crossing the border illegally in the first place, but they are against that as well. I'm not saying the border wall is going to be 100% effective, but it's better than nothing. Regrading your last paragraph, deportation is the minimum. If you're not going to deport illegal immigrants you're essentially letting everyone in.

And that in society, governance, and life itself its considered short sighted to only focus on a single issue. Especially when said issue is "ethics" which nowadays seems to follow what is trending. Think about this: We have satellites that can identify ant trails in the Amazon jungle. We have drones that are linked to those satellites. We have seismographs that can detect shifts in the earth. We could have built drone-docking stations every quarter of a mile along the Southern border, repurpose a satellite to monitor the entire Southern border. When the satellite detects movement along the border, dispatch drones to that location, track the movement, and guide the border patrol to the location. Use the seismographs to detect tunneling systems. We also have National Guard units whom spent over 20 years in the desert. We could deploy the National Guard to assist the border patrol agents for their monthly drills. Build more holding facilities along the Southern border to hold detainees. We could have done that for a few million instead of $13 billion. The wall was a political money grab.

Ah yes Douglas Arizona, my home town whole family was born there I was born in Tucson but I grew up most of my life in Douglas but it used to be a busy town before all of that we had mines factory’s and a lot down there the next town 20 minutes away was a gold mine so we had a lot of people coming and going.
