Great finish.....and I was there........suffering with a cold, and it was a chilly night in Canberra. I discovered that my seat was actually inside the bay of the official Brumbies supporter’s club on the half-way line. The home team was all over the Lions in the first half-hour, and I was getting a great deal of stick.......’This is the fourth test mate, why didn’t you play your first team?’ etc. etc. I kept it courteous, and even bought beers for the two guys sitting next to me. When Dawson sent that kick over, I stood up to cheer........and the two blokes I’d been engaging with just got up and left without saying cheerio! someone launched a cup with an inch of beer in it at me as well. Nice. Went back to my hotel - where the Lions were staying - and had a drink with some good old Welsh boys from Scott Gibbs’s club, I forget whih. Had a few beers with them, said hello to Gibbs and went to bed a very happy man.

Such a great exciting game. Fast and flowing. It’s now being refereed away from all enjoyment . I see the Australians are still poor sportsmen in defeat. Perhaps they are now more attuned to it in recent years, apart from their current prat of a scrum half.

I was there with my wife Jean, great night,wonderful memories, we also stayed at the same hotel as the team on 3 occasions, they were always happy to chat and have photos taken. .lost interest a bit in rugby now. Games seem a bit boring from those days.

Late hits when a try is scored is unfortunately not uncommon. Sliding into the try scorer knees first appears to be acceptable. Red or yellow on my opinion.
