There's a channel called Hal Leonard Jazz Ensemble that has different big band arrangments with sheet music and sound. It costs money to download the arrangments, but you can take a screenshot of a part you like and copy the notes to MuseScore. It's a long process, but I find it very helpful to look at the notes and voicings and analyze an arrangement. Enjoying your series!

Thanks for posting, it's interesting to see the journey. The huge difference between mf and f (not just in volume but in tone) is very frustrating across all instruments, isn't it, but for most Brass it is even more marked. I'm toying with a Big Band too, so this is so helpful and honest! Keep going, and good luck!

Thank you for the encouragement! Good to know there are other people finding the same problems. I'm excited to try out the new musesounds guitars...

@@mccoydtromb , I didn't know about the guitars, thanks for highlighting. They will be a great background rhythm for a big band! Eagerly await the next chapters :)

At your tempo (126 BPM) I suggest that you adjust the swing ratio to 70% (now it appears that you have it set at 60%). Maybe the samples will not cope well wiith my suggestion but it could be worth a try anyhow.

My dear friend of notation, after copying the part you could use Tools->Transpose->Diatonical instead. In this case down by 3rd, 5th, 6th. The result was pretty good.

Thanks for the tip. That would certainly give you a form of closed voicing, but then would all be parallel chords, right?

@@mccoydtromb Correct, but I still think it is a faster way to end up at intended closed voicing.
