Rock chick is one of those triangular looks that can pull towards boho, punk or grunge. It’s actually quite hard to do without going to far in one of those directions, to me it’s all about the rock - black leather, solid dark colours and metal, then with subtle tweaks of either boho, punk or grunge. Whatever the subtly, the over all look must say - cool, confidence without caring but also hot mess just follows me around! It’s the ultimate, I wore this last night and have only just finished partying!

Can't wait for the next challenge - seeing a 'rail only' version of your closet! Would be great if you talk through your process when paring down too (i.e. how you decide what should leave or stay in your truncated capsule wardrobe collection). I also love how there's a true mix of high-low in these rock chic looks, which makes them more accessible for everyday folk (most of us aren't attending swanky red carpet events, so we don't have the need for full-on glammed up gowns - but many people could probably do a party dress with a leather jacket!)

The stiff white shirt light tuck and black jeans would work with a thin silver hip belt (even a thin metallic scarf), maybe even twice wrapped and draping down the leg. It would need a black textile necklace, or tribal style. Could manage with a kitten heel cap toe shoe.

I think there's a ton of French girls who do this best, Emanuelle Alt, Josephine de la baume, Vanessa Paradise, Caroline Maigret quite a few others too. I'd say you can do a lot with a black eye liner, and some safety pins, a black leather biker, and a ton of attitude.

I think I need to take inspiration from the 1940's & 50's, I am a short person with a high-waist, large bust and have a bit of a tummy. I am a size 16 in Australian sizing. How would you reference the 40's/50's silhouettes using today's available fashion? I do love dresses and skirts but find trouser and top outfits harder to make look OK. I never thought there was such a style, the rock chick look. Whenever I saw a girl looking like that I always thought she was someone into drugs, sex and alcohol. Me and my stereotypes. Interesting your interpretation of it and you have the figure for it. These girls were always skinny, flat chested almost and had a look of just wearing sexy clothes with not much effort into their makeup or hairstyle. I think I like it .
