Dear Trinny, I have to say that past month I really BINGED on your channel here and honestly, it is a revelation for me: a size 12/14 who always wore black on black, thinking only about its slimming factors, not if it actually suits me. I am so beyond grateful for your work and constantly positive presence for ALL women, regardless of size, look, style. Due to your videos, I already ordered white trainers (never had ones) and floral dress for consideration (being pretty averse to wear any print on large scale). Looking for light-coloured jacket or one with white/light infused pattern, a wider belt (one in black, one in lighter colour) to experiment a bit and some necklace in cream/golden to bring some light near the face while wearing darker top. You are changing women's self-perception and here is the proof. You are THE BEST!!

Yep, Justine Press. I've abandoned the minimal wardrobe, too. Stupid idea unless you're happy being bored, clothes getting washed out, no fun. Since wealthy have boats, limos, helicopters, bloody planes, stuff having a 34 item wardrobe, the environments getting bombed to hell anyway. I've now got lots of beautiful great quality clothes, and really now don't need to shop this year, but for a great reason!!! When bored, give away and rebuy.dont agree, I don't care. I live on the east coast in the U.S. and black is a staple during the "darker" months of autumn and winter. My power suit is black with a bright red or pink lip. The lip color always gives black the real power! I feel confident, strong and in control of my day. It is my "game day" suit!

As far as black goes I seem to be attracted to black floral prints, black lace, black velvet, and black shimmer. I’m lucky to have nearly black hair and china doll skin. A long black dress, some red lips and a leopard scarf and I’m good to go. You are so amazing and wonderful. Your energy is inspiring. 💖

I remember when travelling to London years ago, they were a no no and not accepted as dress attire in many restaurants in London, hence I had to carry dress shoes in a carrier bag to change into to gain entrance in some restaurants.

Perhaps it is true that some people are not ready to jump into colour, but is it not also true that some are afraid of neutrals and don't know how to accessorize them? Winter light often becomes black, and winter weather is often best camouflaged by black. You mentioned Melbourne, what about New York? And I know you don't like to mix colour with black, but it can be really striking when well executed. Colourful accessories, or maybe just one, can be very chic again black.

I’m a Melbournian and used to wear a lot of black...for the simple reason that not much else was sold in the shops I could afford here! A lot more international brands have become available in recent years here...so I’ve been able to steer away from black. I’ve still got some black pants, black skirts and black shoes though!

How did I miss this video?! LOVE the outfit you are wearing at 8:15. Very beautiful shape and textures. Happy I invested in a red lipstick for once. Demon is such a surprisingly friendly lip color that can be worn in the day without looking overdone. Added bonus - demon makes blue eyes so blue and teeth very white. I think it is the perfect red lipstick.

Black is economical dressing. It goes with everything. Being pear-shaped, I always wear dark colours on my bottom half. Usually denim, black and navy, which are colours that I dislike. I would prefer very dark purple trousers but fabric manufacturers don't produce a dark enough purple in a weight suitable for trousers.

Dear Trinny, I have just discovered all your KZbin advice. I am 52 years old and have mostly a wardrobe full of black and grey clothes with some colours. I am slowly going to start introducing more colour into it taking your advice on board but obviously have a budget to stick to. Is there any way that I can wear colours with black so as to make use of my current wardrobe while I build? I just read in the comments below that you don’t advise black to be worn with colours. i wear all back but with no collar and no sleeves. In silky, solf and flowy fabric, or transparent, lace. Then I mix with interesting texture, black accessories, shoes and bag. Sometime I tried silver bag, but i feel it's trying too hard to be elegant. What do you think about black and gray?
