closet diary: styling clothes I never wear for a month 🌸

me talking about the weather for 23 minutes straight
Not all of these outfits are a win but I’m really happy with what I managed to come up with! I don’t wear these pieces because I do find them hard to style (whether because of fit, pattern or colour) so it was a great challenge to try and style them creatively!
Also I know the voice overs are a bit long but I liked how I had talked about bits of my day and the weather and how I was feeling, which really made it feel like a little closet diary, so I decided to keep them in :)

Wow!! This is incredible. I have exactly 0% creativity when it comes to my wardrobe and I find myself wanting clothes to fit in a very, very specific way that I think is "flattering". Pair that with my sense of vague minimalism and that means I am CONSTANTLY getting rid of clothes. I've actually spent quite a bit of time this year re-building my wardrobe because I went *very* hard with the purging (plus I lost a lot of weight and things just didn't fit anymore). This inspires me to really try and be creative with the clothes I don't wear often and not just burn and raze my closet every year!! It would also be cheaper (and more sustainable) to not have to start fresh all the time. 😅

2:00 Don’t feel too guilty about holding onto clothing you don’t wear anymore! I also hold onto clothing (hand-me-downs I have yet to incorporate into my wardrobe, things I want to modify, etc.). I definitely follow in the footsteps of my grandma; she held onto some of my mom’s clothing from the 70s and 80s, which I now own and wear!

Really love your well made videos and editing style! This concept was a really great exercise. My only question would be are you going to donate or sell any of these pieces? Maybe it’s just the minimalist in me questioning but if these pieces are just taking up space when you don’t resonate/ feel comfortable/ confident/ ever ever wear them, wouldn’t it be best to part with them to someone who would really love them for their “always capsule” wardrobe? :) so many you said were from high school or are just not your thing and don’t fit right

awww thank you! yess, i’ve been mulling over what to with the clothes i dont love for a long time, its hard because a lot of clothes that are donated to op shops end up in a landfill and the clothes i dont wear generally dont fit the trends or are just fast fashion pieces (poorly made and not valuable) so usually people don’t buy them! But the great thing is there’s more popularity in diverse styles and are greater clothing recycling programs! So hopefully I can pass on some pieces somewhat responsibly soon ☺️ The linear fashion system is a mess 😫
