I strongly recommend treating yourself to wood hangers. I switched mine for wood a couple of years ago, and there’s something about it that makes me feel like I am taking better care of my clothes now.
@glockenrein3 жыл бұрын
Looking at the size of closets in the USA this might not be a problem but for me it was: wood hangers took up too much space and I replaced them with those very thin velvety non-slip ones so I can fit in more stuff. That makes it sounds like I have tons of clothes but I don’t, just a small wardrobe. 😄

I disagree with wood hangers except for men's suits and in my hall closet for heavy coats. The Velvet hangers are WAY better for our clothes so they don't slip off and still not taking up any space. Any closet can look luxurious if you leave air between the clothes so nothing seems squished together in there. That is all a matter of not owning too much.

A couple of thoughts: 1. It's ok to wear something that isn't in one of your best colors, if other things about it bring you joy and you feel good in it! You might make a rule that you don't buy things that aren't in your palette, but you don't have to cast out things you already have and love just because they aren't the "right" color. 2. I've never met a grease stain that a dab of dish soap and a sprinkle of baking soda couldn't get out - even if it's been washed and dried multiple times!

I pulled a few items from the closet that I love but had little things wrong with them. I took them to a friend who sews and pointed out what I did not like. She made the alterations for me and now they are pieces I truly love that have a great fit to me. One time I watched a show and it say we can find great pieces that just need a little fix to love :) I hope this helps. Cut down the neck line to be one you are styled more comfortable with. Dress a bit too long: have it shortened to you.
@24carrotgold83 жыл бұрын
I got the impression that she doesn't know alterations are an option. However, when I saw the volume of clothes in her wardrobe, I realized discarding some was probably her best choice. 😊
@yolandapagan56563 жыл бұрын
I often have my clothes altered too. I’m a petite curvy and busty woman. Hems on dresses, skirts, blouses, tees, shorts, and pants are common alterations. Taking in jean, short and skirts waists are also common alterations. I have also had darts placed on tops so they don’t gape funnily around the sleeve opening. I feel so much happiness when my clothes fit me. Recently I realized I’m not wearing a cross body purse that I love because the strap flap was so long it would jut out. My husband and I made some holes on the the straps and put jean buttons to hold down the strap. My purse is coming out to play with me soon.

Instead of buying specialty hangers, I use clothespins. Using the same hangers you have, put the clothespin where the clip would be on the specialty hanger. As a suggestion for sweaters, you might want to fold them vs hanging. Hanging has a tendency to stretch them along with leaving hanger marks in the shoulder area.

Dere Erica, You need to use either wooden hangers or padded ones for your sweaters. They're really going to stretch out. You'll have hanger marks on the shoulders. Better yet, roll them up. 1) I loved the dresses on you, especially with higher waists. 2) There was one dress you liked other than the length...it’s pretty easy to hem a dress if you like it enough to do a quick project. 3) anytime I declutter clothes I turn the hangers to face backwards. Then if I wear something I hang it back up normally. So the next time I declutter, it’s easy to see what I never ended up wearing since those are the only backwards hangars.
@corikublank3 жыл бұрын

I have had my makeup brushes for years now. You can buy a bar of soap that is meant for washing your face. Wet your brushes and soap and gently rub the bristles of your brush against the soap. The bubbles will clean the inside of the brush as well (and won't ruing them) and then just rinse them under a stream of water. Since the soap I use is meant for face it means your skin won't react to it and break out. You can repeat the process for the same brush as much as you need to until you are sure it is clean. As for the pallets. I personally use the same "trick" professional makeup artists use. I sterilize my pallets every few months as it prevents bacteria growth on them. It has allowed me to use my favorite pallets even after they have "expired" without breaking out or having any reactions. Of course, this is just an advice and a matter of personal choice, but thought I could mention that. You can find videos on how to properly sanitize pallets on KZbin. Love Your videos

I have a shirt just like that and I also like lower necklines so I just reversed it and now I wear it ALL the time and I’ve done it with one of my maxi dresses too! It’s like having a brand new dress ! I also think you could wear that white drapey cardigan with your dresses or your bodysuits and jeans. A trick I use if I want to see if I like wearing it differently with different combos is I commit to wearing every day from the morning for a week/fortnight and if I find I change it or take it off each day during that fortnight then I declutter it. It helps me feel I’ve given it a good go. Also changing my plastic hangers to felt ones was great but get better quality ones not super cheap like I did . When I hang my dresses on them to dry I flick them a few times to get creases out and don’t need to steam them . Love the navy and orange dresses on you. I know myself I now don’t buy white tops as I am super clumsy and spill so dark shirts for me 😊

Hi Erica. I really like the idea of hanging things inside out. So much better than taking up space on hooks on the back of the door or over the back of the chair. So going to start doing that. I’ll also share the idea on the Take your house back (Dawn, Cas & Dana’s) Facebook page :)

I love your polka dot tops! Have you tried matching them with the dressy white cardigan?

Costco sells the Velvet hangers, IKEA sells the wooden kind both are excellent quality and cheaper than elsewhere for when you change the hangers. Your inside out tip is brilliant. 👍😁

I've sold a handful of things on Poshmark over the past few years. Luck is definitely a factor in how soon something sells- listing the right size of a thing right when someone is looking for it. But other aspects that help things sell are listing larger brand names, lots of photos- especially if you have any photos of you wearing it or a photo from the retailer, and listing dimensions in the description in addition to the size.
