This story could've been a film on its own. And Hugo Weaving it so funny in it.

When Mr. Meek actually communicated "don't leave me here", the change of expression in Cavendish's face was fabulous. Most funny.

When you can make your audience laugh, and in the next scene cry, you are on the right track.

Mr Meeks was so desperate to escape with his friends that through sheer force of will, he literally broke through his Alzheimer's induced aphasia to tell Cavenish "Don't leave me here." lol

I urge everyone to read the book, which is one of the most extraordinary novels in the English language. As funny as this version is, it pales in comparison to the book, and lack's Cavendish's many witticisms. But most of all, David Mitchell's ability to imbue every sentence with humanity and feeling makes the whole much more than the sum of its parts.

carlos martinez The main character at the start of this scene makes a call to the son of one of the "Retirment home residents", tell if him his parent is dying & thinking about changing her will. So he rushes straight over. It is his Range Rover. They did that so they have a get-away car.
