Cloud Pour Mixing Tutorial DOs and DON’Ts ~~~ ITS A JOURNEY!!!
Several examples of the effects you can achieve are shown in this video. And in the second piece, I added too much water to the cloud mix. Needless to say, there were no pearls, clouds, nothing!!! But all was not lost. I took my blow dryer to it and voila!!
To make a 32 Oz bottle of cloud mix, this is what I did:
8oz of Artist Loft Flow Acrylic in White
4oz of Decoart satin enamels in pure white
12oz of Floetrol
2.5oz of Liquitex pouring medium
Just a squirt of GAC800
8oz (approximately) of water to thin added slowly
Blue Piece Colors:
Golden fluid in Teal
Golden fluid in Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold
Liquitex Payne’s grey mixed with
Liquitex phthalocyanine blue and
Liquitex iridescent medium
Pastel Piece Colors:
Liquitex Dioxane purple mixed with
Pebeo iridescent blue violet and
Liquitex prism violet
Amsterdam permanent red violet mixed with Decoart extreme sheen in pink tourmaline
Decoart extreme sheen 24kt gold

I'm so glad you posted this!!! I'm having so much trouble getting the cloud pour to work!! Seeing this shows me a few things that I will do different!! Like, I think that I put too much water in the base and the colors!! Thank you so much for sharing this!!!!.

Aloha from Hawaii! OMG I experimented for a month of satin enamal cloud mix. It's very temperamental!! I thought I had my recipe, then it failed. I did do the thin one and hoped for the whole cell thing and I cracked up watching yours, because that is what happened with mine! I did a pour over.. nothing at ALL as beautiful as yours!! That hold! Bling bling. I'm finding I love transparent color with cloud mix and, not going quite as thin. Fun watching this video!

I use floetrol, liquitex pouring medium GAC800 and water. All paints have different viscosities so it’s hard to give ratios for them

I made some cloud mix a month ago or so. At first it worked great. Then I come back to the mix and cannot get a good reaction from it. I hate to throw it away and was wondering if you know any way of revitalizing it?

Home Depot has sample sizes of Behr paint line. You can get the bight white but I also bought a sample size of a deep base satin enamel. Haven’t tried adding it to other colours yet.

I'm fairly new to acrylic pouring and have attempted the 'cloud effect' recently. Since you are the expert on this, please tell me one thing. Do I have to use specific brands or colors of acrylic paints along with the cloud mix to get the effect? For example, say Liquitex Basics works with the cloud mix and makes gorgeous clouds and Brand XYZ does nothing at all when poured with the cloud mix. Is that the norm? We have to figure out which colored acrylic paints will react with the cloud mix to get any clouds?

Ah they’re working now. My fault. Sorry. I love the pour using Venetian Blue. Just got the last one in existence (I think) for $3 at Michael’s. I’m going to save it for a larger canvas. But I have to wait tii spring when it’s warm enough to paint in the garage. Go big or go home!

I have tried unsuccessfully. I have done dump and swirls on black that turned out good. Dwight is amazing at those!!
