Well, while they did a fairly good job, they oversized it. They measured the blade at 6 feet long. Considering Cloud is 5'7", 6' would be probably the entire sword length, not just the blade. EDIT: Because I didn't go through the whole video first, here's the rundown. They sized the blade at 6' long. They then made an 18" handle. That means the overall length of the build is 7'6", give or take a little.

Dean Tape sword youtuber Skallagrim actually calculated the weight needed to effectively fight with it. It came out to 2500 pounds. Jon Minnoch, worlds heaviest person, weighs in at 1400.

That sword my appear accurate but the blades thickness isn't the same as the one Zack and Cloud use. Also the brass/dull gold crossguard/rearguard didn't cover the whole area as bit of blade is sticking out. I don't see that as 100% real. They got the outlook right but not accurate measurements on the width, thickness, length... And also the handle is too long.

FingersAU you are also wrong, the Omnislash was originally used in Final Fantasy VII with Cloud’s Ultima Weapon. It was just used with the 6 in one sword later in the spin off FFVII stuff(by spin offs I mean movies like advent children or stuff like the anime movie thing, Final Fantasy 7 last order)

@@fingersau6692 You mean the Fusion Sword? Cloud's second sword after the Buster Sword, which actually originally belonged to Angeal, which was given to Zack and then given to Cloud. The Fusion Sword does make as appearances outside of Advent Children, however, it's not nearly as recognizable as Buster Sword. The Buster Sword has been synonymous with Cloud Strife ever since the original Final Fantasy 7. It's only in recent titles that we see characters other than Cloud wield Buster Sword.

I have to thank you guys. I was making a paper version of this sword. I only did one side of it. So, my dad showed me this and I managed to make it a bit bigger and with both sides. The actual design of the sword also helped me a bit too. I think it turned out well. At least, for being 11 and doing it by myself. So once again I really have to say, thanks. Squall's Gunblade (and Gunblades in FFVIII in general) did not shoot bullets. Pulling the trigger sent an explosive shockwave through the weapon. A real life equivalent would be a trigger that either makes the blade punch forward an inch or so like a single hit of a jack hammer, or, send an taser tick through the blade or trigger a small front facing explosion.

The Buster sword in the game is only supposed to be around 4ft long. Cloud is a very small man.

The total length changes from game to game, in FF7 Cloud is 5'7" and the sword is a bit taller than he is. The blade itself is probably about 4.5-5 feet, then the handle takes it to about 6'. It's much thicker than the sword they make here, probably 1.5-2 inches thick so it would weigh much more than their sword. But in Dissidia it is made a bit smaller, in Kingdom Hearts it is bigger. In Crisis Core, Zack is 6'3" and he's not much taller than Cloud, so how tall is he? Square don't seem to care, this is a good enough Buster Sword size. The quality is pretty bad though.

As a critical fan of the series, I commend you for your attempt but what you've created is a disappointment. It's not to scale, based on any of the characters' heights, and its assembly is shoddy. A riveted insert for the blade? Insulting. This was nothing more to you than an item on a list to check off and it shows. It proves you can't really expect quality work from craftsmen who aren't actually invested in the product.

I agree, it was a good attempt, but it wasn't as legit as some as the other weapons he's made. I really didn't like the colour treating to the blade after, I thought it made it look really ugly. Maybe scratching the blade up to make it look more roughed up would be a better way to go.

No. A shoddy product is a shoddy product regardless of the work put into it. Attention to detail is what makes a good product. It's actually not that technically difficult to make with their machinery, it just takes some knowledge of the actual dimensions of the weapon (which these guys clearly didn't bother to research) and the determination to see the product through to nearest possible accuracy There are notably two different sets of dimensions for this weapon, depending on which game you take it from, but what these guys made is accurate to neither. It's a lazy bastardization of an iconic fantasy weapon. Imagine if they'd riveted a separate insert into a slab of metal and called it the Sword of Omens. Or made a longsword and called it Sting. Or merely painted a beveled slab of metal blue and called it Frostmourne. Attention to detail is significant when you're attempting to replicate something, especially if it's an object coveted by geeks like me. The "do better" argument is flawed in that critique does not require imitation. I'm not wrong in my assertion that what they created is an inaccurate imitation of the base weapon. So, no, I should not shut up. For future reference, telling people they should shut up purely because you disagree with them is rather ignorant.

How about a working version of Cloud's First Tsurugi and Fusion swords from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. That would be one hell of a project. You could probably get an idea of how they work from toys or other peoples attempts. If you could make those then you are a blacksmith god! I would pay a lot of money for those if I had any.
