As someone who has used both ChatGPT and Gemini to learn English, I can say this video reflects my experience perfectly. For me, ChatGPT feels like a real English teacher , offering detailed explanations on what I don’t understand. Gemini, on the other hand, always gives concise and summarized replies, so I have to keep asking questions to get what I need. It’s more like a native-speaking personal assistant but not great for beginner English learners.

I tried both and i can say for sure that the gemini live cannot hold conversations well, maily it asks a lot of questions in a convo, like for example if i tell it something, it confirms what i said everytime, so irritating. On the other hand, Chatgpt was so causal, natural and easygoing in the conversation, really kept me engaged for almost 2 hours, compared to 10 mins😂 on gemini live.

i find gemini live is simply not as good as chatgpt. the answers gemini live gives back is far worse than what it gives back in text form. i don't why google decided to dumb down gemini live. clearly, gemini knows how to give a substantive answer but with whatever fine tuning or prompt engineering they did for gemini live, they made the answers really non-substantive.

Gemini live has no memory system whatsoever... He doesn't even remember two previous messages. It needs a loooot of improvement

The strange thing is, from what I heard, it's not even a voice model like ChatGPT's advanced voice, and their Gemini model is supposed to have 2M context windows.

excact same experience here. Gemini forgets it s teacherrol after 2 sentences..can not recall older statements...it improved a lot, but this roleplay is very poor. Chat GTP at the other side is every time a positiv surprice!

Their English voices are surprisingly very natural. Another languages? Not really much. It's not fair to say Gemini Live is disappointing. Well, because it's free. Google can do that also I believe sooner or later, but it might be very COSTLY for them to host. They usually give these products for free. OpenAI is only better just because they are specialized in AI/ML niche, while Google doesn't.
