I have not tried Praktika yet. Talkpal is my favourite one right now 🤩 It was offered a 14-days free trial, so I am playing around with this tool, but for sure I am going to pay for it. I enjoy it so much 😍 I can guide the conversation or I can choose from a topic, and there is feedback as well. I prefer Talkpal to ChatGpt now 😀 Thank you Luke for this video! I like that you are adventurous as a teacher. I like that. 🙏

I just recently came across your channel? What do you think about the ELSA app? I'm sort of on the fence about it. It doesn't seem to recognize some natural patterns in English, such as reductions, contractions, the flap-T, the stop T, squeezed out syllables etc. It often requires that you pronounce very clearly the first and the last letters of words which makes the speech choppy and unnatural. I've been using it for a couple of years and have paid a lifetime-pro license and am reluctant to pay for another app unless it is really superior. Never tried this Praktika though, may give it a shot if they have a free or a trial version

I have been using elsa for 9 months. Premium version. Elsa lacks a immediate feedback on the conversations, both writen and spoken. The feedback only comes after you finish the conversation, which is interesting, but it would be a great idea to have a real time feedback as well. The best part of ELSA is the speech annalizer, both on th website and on the app. But for pronunciation ELSA is 10/10,but for conversation and feedback I would rate it 6/10

@@AlexandreLuiz-ph8ns Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can you clarify what do you mean by ELSA is 10/10 for pronunciation but not for conversation? As I have stated above, from my experience the app doesn't seem to like "natural speech" and it often (although not always) requires you to over pronounce words in order to give you a high score. It does not recognize reductions, contractions, squeezed out syllables, flap T, Stop T, silent T etc... I find it very frustrating because I feel like, in a way I have to take a step backwards and fake my natural way of speaking to sound more robotic in order to get a higher score which doesn't make sense. Also there are certain easy words that no matter how I pronounce them the app almost always gives a low score. Words like. You, Yeah, articles like "a" when pronounced as schwa seem to be out of reach since the app never recognizes the normaln pronunciation. I find it really weird. It may be OK for people with certain Asian accents or for low level students but not for advanced students who want to get even better... I feel I have to take a step back to fit the lower criteria the app has.

I like that you teach how to use AI

Chat gpt, even the standard mode is waaaaaay better than Praktika. Praktica is a dull system, a stiff one. In fact the conversation in praktica (in free conversation) is more like a predetermined route that you cannot run away from. If you say something different, the system absolutely bugs😅. I have used praktica for 3 months, recently but I would never use it again. On the other hand, in gpt advanced mode you can really do whatever you want and the AI will totally understand.

That is my preference too. But I have today, Praktika has made some very big improvements since they started.
