Great video as always. Is there any campaign play or is it all scenario based?

KozmoWTF co-op is paired scenarios. First scenario influences second scenario. Solo is just one-offs. No campaign. But sometimes I enjoy that. I have too many campaign games as is ;)

Hungry Gamer it’s fun! You can plan your waves together, build armies that support each other, good stuff.

I enjoyed this format of review, just subscribed. What are your thoughts on the new kickstarter and second edition? I would love to play this game competitively but worry it'll be too difficult to teach my gaming group. We've played games like Feast for Odin, Terraforming Mars, Root, and Teotihuacan. Not sure how much more complicated it is than some of those games.

Thanks for writing and watching, Austin! I did a playthrough of coop play, solo play, and a new separate review video for the factions in the current Kickstarter, so there's lots of Cloudspire coverage to go around if you want to watch more. Also, we have a whole episode of our podcast on the game, and Peter my co-host was less in love with it, so listening to that might also help you in your decision. (the podcast is also called one stop co-op shop, by the way). But to summarize and answer your specific questions: 1 - Competitive play is the easiest to play, easiest to teach, and in my opinion possibly the best way to experience the game (though I love coop and solo). So if you're thinking that's the main way you'd play, I say it's a good choice. 2 - That said, the game can be tough to teach to many people at once. It's similar to Root (one of my top games of all time), in that it's not so bad if I teach you eyrie while I play cats, but if I'm teaching 3 new players the ins and outs of their own faction and all the other factions, it's going to be a beast. So, if possible, I would do several 2-player games of Cloudspire first, or if you have two friends don't play yourself and just coach and teach both of them. Once they get comfortable with a faction they like, throw down some 4 player games and have at it :) 3 - If the games you listed aren't too hard for your group, there should be no problem with Cloudspire. Besides the faction learning stuff I discussed above (and honestly, factions are MUCH easier and more consistent to learn here than in something like Root), it's actually a pretty straightforward ruleset, though there are keywords that can confuse new players. 4 - The big thing is, it's not going to work for everyone. One person I played with thought the minions being mostly automated (like any good MOBA) made them feel a lack of control. Another player kept having difficulty with their faction's keywords. It looks like the graphical updates they are adding to second edition will make everything more straightforward and clear, but still something to consider. For me Cloudspire has been growing in my estimation, and is probably in at least my top 20 now. But it's not for everyone, and it's a pretty expensive buy-in. So watch more videos, read the rules, try it out on Tabletop Simulator, and make sure it's definitely what you want. Hope that ramble helps! :)

@@OneStopCoopShop thanks for the detailed response! I'm going to check out your podcast and other video for sure. Also, good idea on tabletop simulator! I'll try to give it a spin there!

I have it. It is a solid little head to head game. Really interesting puzzle. I need to break it out again.

@@OneStopCoopShop it's pretty good. It has scenarios that you play through varying difficulty (I'll add they can be downloaded free) Some of them require multiple characters, so you can Co op it as well. It has a strong memory element to it. The co op feels very different than the head to head as well

I think the core game is a good value, but I actively play solo, co-op, and competitive. If I was only going to play one of those modes, I'd have to change my evaluation a good bit.
