He doesn't blame his girlfriend for leaving. He doesn't take his bad feelings out on others. He continues to be optimistic. He manages his own loneliness by writing songs. And he still shows compassion for other people, even when stuck as a ghost in limbo. Love is the acceptance of people leaving you and forgiving them, even if they leave permanent scars behind, and finding the good in the world as you heal from their departure. That's what George's character encompasses. Self love and respect. And that's why George is great.

If this series takes place in 2020, that means George’s girl left him in 1920. He was probably in his 20’s when the relationship kicked off meaning he was most likely born in the late 1890’s, to the early 1900’s.Seems it didn’t last too long though since she probably left him in 1920, cuz 20-30 years later, he was drafted into the army, he made it out alive. 40-50 years, he’s not looking so good. He died in the hospital bed from a heart failure (I think) most likely in the 1970’s meaning HE was 70 as well. After he passed, his spirit kept coming back to that same tree for another 50 years until he met Kel in 2020. A full hundred years since she left, and he still loves her. Damn. I’m just trying to make a timeline

Everyone seems to be assuming George's girl broke up with him, but considering the description says he's teaching Kel to hold onto lost loved one's memories, it makes more sense to me that she actually died young. Maybe it's just me, but it seems weird that he'd be hung up on an ex to the point that the people in the hospital with him would bring him a photo of her on his death bed. [Theory Time] Speaking of the people in the hospital, the woman who runs up to him in the park when he has a heart attack seems to be (at least to me) implied to be his daughter. Her hair has the same spiky ends George's has but is also curly like George's girlfriend and a shade of gray between George's black and his girlfriend's light gray, so that could mean that when she died, she left George with a daughter to take care of. That's just a thought I had.

He fell in love with someone and she became the world to him, and she loved him too, for a time, but when she left he didn't force her to stay or pressure her on why she left, he simply let her go as she wished. He remembered her for his whole life, and well after it, but he merely looked back on and savored the good times he'd had with her to get him through life's struggles. When Kel comes along, struggling from losing a loved one similarly to him, George still took the time to help her get past it without losing the memories she had.

This song really hits differently now. It was never one of my favorites, just a song I thought sounded nice when my little brother showed it to me. But now, I've never related to something more. About half a year ago, one of the most important people in my life was taken from me. I still miss them terribly. I was thinking about them thinking about this song, and I may or may not have sung it to myself alone in my room a few times trying not to cry. Every waking second of my life reminds me of them and it makes me feel so horrible. We had been friends for years but had only dated for two. A few months before our second anniversary, I realized I wasn't in love, and that romance wasn't something I was ready for, however, I was too scared to tell the truth. Very shortly after our second anniversary, as well as their birthday, they sent me multiple messages about how they loved me, and how they were sorry. I didn't see a single one until it was too late. They disappeared for weeks, and I was the only one who knew what happened. Day after day, my friends would ask where they went, but I never had the heart to tell them that they had committed suicide, so I told them they must have been sick, and that's why they wouldn't come to school. A month went by, and people were really worried. A joke started that they were dead, and it was just a joke to them, but I knew. A month later, my best friend and I were on our way to breakfast and we got a text in a group chat that had been dead for a long time. I still remember how shocked I was, but it was from our missing friend. They weren't successful, which is great, but they were sent to a hospital for three months. That's great, right? Almost two months had passed, so only one more and we would see each other again, right? That was April eleventh, at 10:05 AM. Today is August eleventh. Four months after the text, six months after the attempt. I was allowed to contact them once until they found out that we were in an lgbtq relationship and forbade any more contact. They plan to hold them for longer despite them being better and from what I know, they've been treating them unfairly. There is a very high chance I may not see them again for years. I miss them so much, and my life has gone horribly downhill. I've been depressed, angry, and just not myself. Sorry there wasn't a happy ending, but maybe someday in the distant future, there will be. Till then. Edit: 8 months after the incident, good news, they came back. Things are almost normal again, and I'm so grateful. Thanks to the 8 people I know who read this. Things are looking up, everyone :) Edit 2: I'm back four months later, four o’clock in the morning able to sing this song and dance happily again. My little band of dumbasses is back together and even bigger now. Depression’s been kicking my ass lately, but at least I know I’m not alone. And to anyone who decided to read all this, you aren't either. Talk to your bros, parents, or hell, even I’m here. Don’t let yourself fall into the hole I'm trying to crawl out of. Cheers, y’all.

I feel like out of the three of them, George’s story was the saddest. Brenda, despite her body slowly being paralyzed, could find different ways to overcome her condition, even if it was only for a little bit of time. Dave was constantly criticized and ridiculed, but still kept persevering and eventually made it big, despite everything. George literally could do nothing to fix his situation, because he had zero control over it. All he could do was remember the good times he had. And the fact that that was all it took to make him happy both melts my heart and breaks it at the same time.

Legitimately though, this is such a good song. It has a fantastic tune, it's so catchy and has such a great electro swing style. I especially love that you have people actually playing some of the instruments and not only using a music program. The animation is also so perfect. It captures a perfect blend of the old-timey art style and new refined animating technique. It also perfectly and cleanly portrays George's story. This is just so fantastic. Props to everyone involved in this entire project.

Something I noticed! In Brenda’s song, Still Dancing, when she can’t move her arms, and points to the window, it shows a bird out the window which represents George! George died first so it would make sense for her to see George! I think she didn’t really “leave” George, but actually was taken to the hospital, and wasn’t able to see him until after her death! Edit: to prove the George representing story: 1, George has bird wings after he dies, 2, he’s often seen flying! Edit 2: hi guys I’m stupid af and I wrote that George died first, I now think the bird outside of her window was symbolism for George waiting for Brenda, but Brenda never coming back to him
