@martin manuel wtf you talking 'bout Manuel? Sounds a little overanalyzing to me...so you don't believe in multi-culturalism or being multi-lingual? I know many people, myself included, who are raised in two or more cultures and speak two or more languages....I guess we didn't get your memo that I had to make a choice.... but its better and happier this way.
@jerryarcher94893 жыл бұрын
@martin manuel wow, dude. The definition of culture is the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group. So, every country has a culture and when you said that children born in the U.S. from Salvadorean parents prefer the Salvadorean culture instead of their own, it's not true. Oh, and when you talk about respect, respect is not based on culture, respect is when you accept someone for who they are, even when they are different from you or you don't agree with them, it's not about flip flopping between cultures like you said. And yeah, whether you came from pipi lenca or from Stratford, England has nothing to do with respect, you should respect everyone the same.

you are going through the same struggles i went through when I came to the US, I'll recommend just to acknowledge that you are not from there, I know it sounds a little harsh but it'll help you feel more comfortable and you won't feel the pressure to fit in but rather learn ( that is what I did here in the US) try to learn as much as possible that way good people will try to help you get the jokes or even learn the slang, you gotta find the right people that make you feel comfortable and not in a battle for trying to communicate. little by little you'll start getting different things and will learn a lot more, remember nobody perfect. Id love to hang out with you when i go to El Salvador, I will bring my friends from here so that you don't feel like the odd one out. people are super judgy sometimes, I get told I don't belong here in the US because I got an accent and because I'm brown and all those years trying to fit in here I changed my way of speaking even in Spanish and when i went back to el salvador I got judged because I didn't sound salvadoran enough lol, the point is that people will always expect something from you no matter how hard you try, just accept you're different and that's wwhat makes you special and better. good luck i really hope my advice helps, I love your videos btw.

The only advice I could give you if I may is that as a young person as you are is to live each day of your life as it was the last one, enjoy your life to the fullest , El Salvador is a beautiful land and the people is friendly and humble.yiu are married to a Salvadorean and are American that should be in advantage, take it and soon if you believe in God you and your husband will be able to travel at wiil to both countries and more, God bless you . About three years ago you made a video “why I live in El Salvador” you reach so many people with that video. It was a very powerful one. Now, “why I Left El Salvador” gives us a window into your struggles there. It’s all good, It’s all beautiful. I was thinking that we individuals worry maybe too much about what other people say or think about us. And Salvadoreños get offended very easy. Am sure my people probably made you feel terrible a couple of times. Am sorry if that’s the case. Keep making videos if you can and if you want. True followers (subscribers) will always love your content. El Salvador is only a supplement to you.

This is such a kind comment! Thank you so much. I can tell you really get it. I'm glad that I've been able to show both the good, and the hard parts of living in ES. I do believe most people have kind hearts and would never intentionally hurt others, but sometimes cultural differences do get in the way and there can be breakdowns in communication. I will continue making videos and it's encouraging to read comments like yours.

Yes I've thought about that. No matter where we go, one of us will have to adjust. & lol a Ford 150 AND he's in TX? You're gonna turn him into a southern boy lol.

First let me say thank you showing El Salvador in a good light since we always get a bad reputation. Second I know what you are going through and perhaps the best thing you can do is to stay true to who you are and stay close to your family, building relationships takes time but you got this!!!
