Thank you for the review. So sorry to hear about the problem with your LV agenda and the YSL bag. I have had my eyes on YSL and was hoping to buy the Loulou or envelope bag. This review and the comments from others have opened my eyes to potential issues which I have zero energy or patience for. I don’t understand how luxury brands expect folks to pay so much for bags that will start to fall apart in such a short time. Meanwhile I discovered that my my nude colored Karl Lagerfeld Agyness bag (that cost me less than $200) is more hard wearing and gives me less anxiety than my black Chanel jumbo.🤷🏾‍♀️

Thanks Caroline, this is a really useful video! I’m just wondering if you have any experience with Saint Laurent Suede. It seems the envelop bag in leather is embossed leather (probably split grain with plastic embossed layer?) hence its prone to peeling. They have the envelop bag in suede too. Do you think it won’t be subject to the same degree of wear and tear since suede isn’t embossed so there isn’t an upper layer to peel off?

It’s sounds like you’ve thought about this more than I have haha! I don’t have any YSL suede pieces. The issue with this bag is less with the surfacing due to the embossing, and more with the glazing on the edges keeping the pieces together. Since I think the suede pieces are stitched together without any glaze on the edge, you may have better luck with suede. That said, I haven’t looked at any of the suede envelope styles up close; since the envelope style is more structured, it may still have those glazed edges. Hope that makes sense. If you try it, lmk!

I have a YSL WOC (Wallet on chain) and within 6 months I had wear tear on the same exact spots . On the tip of the flap and on the corner sides. I have no idea where to take it for a repair but definitely wouldn't purchase YSL again not worth the 1,560 (including taxes in USA). On the other hand my Gucci tote bag has lasted way longer and there's no wear and tear I bought them a month difference.

Had my YSL kate from Rodeo, started noticing wear on the corners just after I used the bag for 3-4 times. Went back to them and they said it's just normal wear and tear, seriously after I have used it 4 times only. the quality issue is definitely there. They said they can paint the corner, went back to receive it after repair. Truly strange that corners looked the same without any improvement. Appears like they just let the bag sit in the store and never bothered to send it for paint and repair.

I have the exact same problem with my YSL Matelassé WOC, the glazing was rubbing off just like your bag (at the pointy corners) within 2 months of use. The gold on the monogram is coming off as well. I'm very careful with my YSL and have no clue how that happened. Took it back to Saks Fifth and asked for a repair, they ordered me a new one for an exchange instead. I love the bag, but am really, really disappointed with the quality. Still waiting for the replacement to arrive, but know this will happen again for sure!!

Just wanted to share that this also happened to my envelope bag. Luckily it's black so it's not that noticeable but definitely glad I didn't get a lighter one... I thought about bringing it in but wasn't sure if they would even repair it since I've heard mixed reviews of whether or not YSL will just deem it as regular wear and tear (I also only had my bag for 4 months and used it maybe twice a month at most). A lot of people may disagree with this and I don't recommend necessarily recommend this to everyone but to those who aren't looking to resell their bag, have their warranties already expired, or just want to be able to do something about it without sending in for repairs, what I did was I cleaned up the bag, then used some liquitex varnish on the areas of wear (my bag is black so I didn't need to repaint anything). The wear on the tip is barely noticeable now and I'm hoping the varnish would also strengthen it a bit to avoid it from getting worse. I've used liquitex on leather before with good results so I felt comfortable doing this and also the area of wear was still somewhat small that even if I did do this, I figured it wouldn't be terrible if things didn't work out (luckily they did though but would recommend testing it on an inconspicuous spot first). Perhaps Angelus varnish would be even better since their stuff is specifically made for leather. (I saw another youtuber who had painted her whole prada wallet with this Angelus branded paint and turned out fine but I think she only did that because the wallet was at the end of its life and YOLO). Anyways I'm happy with how mine turned out knowing that I won't necessarily be reselling this bag.

Yes, it totally matches easily. Obviously this ultimately depends on what kind of wardrobe you have, but it’s 10000% a neutral and it never even crossed my mind that this could be hard to pair...it’s that versatile! I don’t know what your computer specs are so I can’t comment on what it may look like to you, but it seems a true enough match on my end!

I have the medium envelope in black/silver hardware and grey/silver hardware and both I’ve had 0 issues and they are well used. Maybe just that colour? I’m thinking of getting the nude in the mini Lou camera bag.

@@leahc673 I actually don't own one, because I heard so many bad reviews regarding quality issues. But maybe you could try to put some black polish on the corners, very carefully. It's a lot easier to "hide" problems on black bags / shoes. However depending on when you bought it you should go to a store with your bag and proof of purchase, they might help you for free!

Nini Mimi they are so tiny I honestly didn’t notice until I watched your video but I don’t know if it’s just the way the leather folds. The grey one is in perfect condition but I am worried now about adding a nude bag to my collection because of the issues you have had esp with colour transfer like you I wear a lot of dark denim and black jeans. No I’ve had it for two years now and no fading! I wear it a lot too and even to clubbing! But the mattellise leather is known to peel! So you’ll have to bring it back for repairs

Ana Liza I still love and use this bag, but I’ve never been one that’s overly sensitive to wear and tear. I like that it’s structured, and I’m still happy I got it. The capacity on this is small though, and I think the Loulous can hold more. I really don’t think you could go wrong with either!

I have the same exact bag and just mixed some acrylic paint that matched the color to patch the corners up, can't tell even up close. Might resell once wear shows again tbh. Bag is less durable than I thought. It seems like it's just a thin patent leather, once that top plastic layer wears off it's done

Omg! I have the same colour in wallet on chain style, and the peeling happened for me three months after purchase! I went into the Nordstrom ysl boutique and they sent it in for repair for free, they said they cover it for two years. The sad thing is this problem happened again after another 3 months of use.... so now after the two year mark I have to pay to fix this! They wouldn’t let me exchange for a new one even after they have to keep fixing the issue. I don’t recommend ysl bags now. Also my friend has the same bag as you, after four months of use the peeling happened. I think this is a recurring issue with ysl bags!

Unfortunately it’s not about the color; it’s the glazing along the edges of the bag. It seems to wear off more quickly than one might expect. It’s been mixed experiences based off of other people’s comments, but many have said they’ve experienced the same issues sooner than they would have liked. I still use and love this bag, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind!

Yes, I love their bags too. I’ve had a lot of other ppl comment that they experienced the same issue with the glazing on the corners. I wonder if it’s a style thing and how the bag is used, bc so far I haven’t had issues with my uptown pouch. That said, ive also used the pouch a lot less and the closure is easier bc it’s a magnet instead of a button. I wonder if navigating the button closure on the envelope bag somehow affects the way the bag is held/used and that’s why there’s more wear and tear 🤷🏻‍♀️

unfortunately this is a "common" defect of this YSL bag style (harder and more structured). I have the WOC and it has the same defect on the tip. I bought it in 2020 during the pandemic and used it a maximum of 6 times! I think it's a "defect" of the YSL bags with the harder tip. I bought it at Farfetch ( Brasil) and they will forward it to YSL (Brasil ) to do the repair. I have the loulou, lou camera and the mini lou camera bag and they don't show any wear! I use these bags a lot! for those who like durability I recommend the loulou (despite the soft leather, it is very resistant) and the mini lou camera bag

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that the wear was apparent so early on, but it doesn’t seem to have gotten much worse. Granted, I don’t use this bag as frequently anymore. Ultimately I’m going to keep this one but in hindsight, knowing about the wear and how little this holds, I think I may have gotten something else

I cannot believe this. SERIOUSLY I made up my mind to order this exact same one in few days for my birthday. Why YSL has to be so cheap and make such a shitty quality product??
