They made the right decision imo by only allowing a select group of interesting and successful people to join first; attracting the wrong crowd intially would've meant low quality content and being an audio-based social media it might have killed it.

I've been on Clubhouse for a month now and that is definitely the case because you have a real conversation/dialogue in real-time. Voice conveys so many things: personality, attitude, mood, confidence etc. The last thing you want is to come across unpleasant and disrespectful so even if you disagree with someone you will do it in a more considered way because you are automatically more empathic when you know all the people in the room are real people with you in this moment. We have all written things in comment sections we wouldn't say exactly the same way in real life so there is just more mutual respect in Clubhouse.

I love what Paul and Rohan have created. Clubhouse has been an incredible and beautiful journey for me so far, I've met so many interesting people from all over the world. 💗 I visualise clubs like a train station, and the rooms are trains with different destinations-some trains are packed, some others have only a few passengers. But all will take you on a magical journey of discovery.

I think the app is a cool idea but won't do well... the only reason it got traction was because of its exclusivity and high profile users. I joined a few rooms and the panels were made up of bs marketer types (people that act like they are a 5x startup founder when they are actually a nobody and are full of shit). The rooms with high profile people were cool but there isn't really an interactive aspect because there were thousands of people listening. If I want to listen to these high profile people talk, a podcast is a better medium. That all being said, if Clubhouse could somehow capture the Radio audience then it might do okay. I just don't think younger generations will be inclined to use it.
