only 1:30 into the video and already had to pause and say, this is probably one of the better put together demonstrations on how to mix in Ableton, and very positive. Thank you for the video!

The video don't do it justice compared to your final mix! Your bad ass, thanks for the tutorial. I too make my mixes but with Propellerheads reason. You can hear my stuff on soundcloud (DJ Eargasm)! I too made a tutorial on youtube. I give ya mad props for showing us how its done from another producer/dj standpoint!

Great mix and tutorial. Do you perform live in arrangement view as well or is this specifically your approach to making a mix tape?

Hey, so this was a really good video and everything but my biggest question is this, Why would I ever want to take this method od DJing using Ableton when it seems like it takes an exorbantly long time jues to set up a mix and set list when I can just load my songs into Serato or Virtual DJ and use my pioneer mixer? I would love to use ableton more for just composing music or recording live music than setting up a DJ playlist especally after seeing how long it takes to go in and quantisize a majority of the tracks manually.
@TIGERTRONIK6 жыл бұрын
That's probably because you can do things in Ableton spot on. For example, say you recorded a 30 mix DJ mix on Serato. And you mess up a transition in the middle of a mix. Now this mix needs to be redone. And say you're trying a mashup routine, where you're mixing three songs back to back. It is way easier doing that in Ableton. But I totally feel ya. I've done many mixes in Serato, and still like the organic nature of the mix. I always like hearing a mix with mistakes because I know it was done live.
@TheRandallSan5 жыл бұрын
I used to think the same way..making a live mix on the spot made me a better DJ and I learned to EQ better without using any kind of software...yet, there’s many djs now that do mixes without their equipment for various reasons and this is another way to do it..not only that, but it does sound a lot cleaner...so while I still suggest learning to make mixes live and mastering that, I think this is still a good way of knowing

Thank you so much for the video but I have quick question. you added simply delay to the box under audio. I don’t have the option to do that. Can you please help me on how to do it. Thank you
@kyledung89366 жыл бұрын
skimmed through this pretty quick to see how you mastered but i noticed that when you warp in complex pro the tracks normally get pushed past the red. do you generally lower those before adding compression or just leave them?
@ChrisMortillaro6 жыл бұрын
Great video, can you explain the master tempo change in more detail?
@clubkillerstv6 жыл бұрын
Master tempo change allows you affect the tempo or BPM of the track or mix globally. You can also affect individual sections in the master track window. Song tempo is enabled by default. Here is a link to a video from Loopmasters that dives into this with a lot of detail. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZPNh41oZbpphdU

thanks for sharing can you show us how to add drum loops throughout the mix and maybe using VST plugins
@clubkillerstv6 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I will do a follow up video with VST plug ins and loops. Great question!
@MauricioArevalo6 жыл бұрын
DJ Ashraf - Dallas Texas you can add drum loops by first creating a MIDI channel (Cmd+Shift+T), and on the browser section clicking Instruments > Drum Rack and dragging it onto the midi channel Then you can place your own samples on the drum rack

How do you get songs from SoundCloud into abelton? If that’s even possible?
@andreaavalos52614 жыл бұрын
you have to convert the songs on Soundcloud to MP3 first, then download the MP3 file to your computer. Google "Soundcloud to mp3 converter" and copy & paste embedded link to the converter.

Quick question, how did you records your scratches in ableton?
@behzadrezaee18453 жыл бұрын
How can I play a similar set live? is this method only for recording and not playing live?
@MM-lo8dn2 жыл бұрын
You would have to use Live Session mode instead of arrangement view. With live session, you are able to trigger your songs anyway you like. The most important thing is making sure every song you add is quantized properly so it can stay in sync with any bpm. I would look for some tutorials on Ableton live session performances to give you a better understanding.
@shawnpeterson18255 жыл бұрын
also question, I've tried asking ppl before but no response, can you drag music from Apple Music, or does it have to be serato or like Beatport. just wondering because all of the music libraries I have are on Soundcloud and Apple Music.

@goodman86016 жыл бұрын
the same thing applies for intro, the only thing about intro is that you get limited tracks

This is probably useless to you now but for the first 3 minutes of the video why don't you just ctrl C instead of doing it over and over again just copy it lol and then rename it!

What is the benefit to making this in Abelton over just mixing it live....? Cool concept just seems really time consuming
@clubkillerstv6 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan, yes it is very TIME consuming. A lot of reasons you would want to produce a mix like this. Many times companies won't accept mixes that are created live simply from a quality control issue. They want something that is perfect based on their brand. Another reason is you can simply do things with multi tracking you can't do live. It's not for everyone and not something you want to do all the time.

Oh, alright that's awesome. Thanks for the reply :D

This video should be 10 minutes long max. Still don't understand why you round bpm up and down, just makes no sense....
@MM-lo8dn2 жыл бұрын
A detailed video shouldn't be 10minutes. A lot of people don't understand the editing and other technical aspect of Ableton which can be very intimidating for those not familar with the software. He covers editing, the music itself, eqing, etc.

A1, A2 - are you kidding??? You don't know musical notation and keys???
@sergekozmin13365 жыл бұрын
Ummm, right around 18:38 does he say lower the track by one or two DECIMALS? bahahaha it is definitely "decibels", and I hope I just heard it wrong, but I'm getting the impression he actually thinks it's decimals
@cosmolv5 жыл бұрын
You can do it in Mixmeister mutch faster and easier. This is waste of time...
@clubkillerstv5 жыл бұрын
What type of music do you play? When you're switching up tempos / genres Mixmesiter isn't as efficient. Effects and plug ins don't come close to Ableton.
