You have to invert the minimum and maximum values of your filter so that it won’t do the jump when you go to turn the knob. Thanks for sharing!

00:07:24 Looks like the on/off switch is causing the issue. Because ON is equal to the range of 1 to 127 and OFF is equal to 0. If you keep turning while it's switching on, it jumps to the peak value for ON - because it's an on/off (binary) switch - there is no higher state than ON. To solve this, maybe replace it with a macro on the value of the frequency 26 switch on. This has tought me a very cool thing; the nubs have different ranges per angle per thing you hook-up to it, and they start at the value the software is in when you start turning, and that can differ :). So one can be at 50% and on other at 0% and both having 100% as max on the same nob, and if you start turning both increase without taking over the value of the fysical position. Insane cool! (it's my first day every with Ableton ever, so I might give a suggestions that do not solve the issue you've encountered)

U have to die it with Al controllers. Activate midi and all the way left u see a option changing the knop of slider option. Click on the option and check witch option works fine. It's all the way down left in Ableton. That will fix Al your problems with controlling midi in Ableton. Every controller sends current midi codes.

I've been digging into Live 10 for about a year but I've barely touched my control surfaces up to now, however, I came looking for video tutorials because a friend asked me to Dj dub/reggae at a small festival he's putting on out by a lake here (we're way out in the sticks in rural north east Thailand). Your video has been an excellent introduction, absolutely loving it. Cheers :-)

Great setup, thanks. I can also confirmed that it works fine on my APC40mk2 if you first map devices to your group macros and then map group macros to midi. The other benefit of this is that you can save the effects group and it will include the max/min values in it and all that will be left is to map midi to it.

Great video man! Thanks for making this. Have you done any comparisons with the EQ3 and other devices? I find the sound really grating personally and have avoided using it since EQ8 was created. Lately I find the Channel EQ makes a good option for DJ use as well. I'd also encourage you to do some tests because I don't believe the frequency response is flat when the poles are at -3dB. Each one is probably doing a little dip of -3dB at it's pole frequency. If you put in white noise (or caucasian commotion if you're being PC) and then observe the spectrum that comes out you will know for sure. I haven't done that test, but I have my suspicions and I encourage you to do it before you perform live using EQ3 with all the poles at -3dB as "flat". All nitpicking aside I found this video series very informative and I'm glad that you made them! Thanks for being a boss! Dylan aka ill.Gates
@SonicDephect3 жыл бұрын
Been playing with this idea lately as EQ3 def colors the sound, you can tell by the popping you get when turning it on and off that it isnt transparent. Thought about using EQ8 instead but not sure how to set it up like a 3 band, just found the channel EQ today and it seems to be a better option.

Just tested what happens if in a group you add a 3rd; raw track, and on "track" you add the low/high pass filters, and put A|B on track + raw track. Then you can shoothly switch between both with the a|B fader and they are always in sync because you start them with the Group button. So you can alwasy exscape easilly if you screw up you filters in live performance ;) So switching from hearing like from stadion speakers on an open field sound to "yes, I'm in the party" smoothly just with the A|B, like walking in via a door, if you put the volume slider just a bit lower on the filtered piece, it really gives you that coming closer to the music feel.

Great video dude! I was wondering how you can warp audio with a changing tempo built into the track without it sounding weird. And how you can implement that into your set. It would be great to make a video on how you can do that sort of like how you can with rekordbox and CDJs. I have a not-so-perfect way of doing it but wondering if you have a better way to automate the tempo as well (ex. if the track goes from 140 to 160 and you want the Ableton session to follow that baked-in tempo change IN CLIP VIEW) Thanks!
@emirdemirhan11863 жыл бұрын

The strange behavior of the knobs has to do with the custom MIDI maps conflicting with the Pre-mapped MCU inputs. You can turn this off in MIDI preferences but then you will lose scene launch control. If you map the controls to macros instead of custom MIDI maps these should work natively with the controller.
@thomassoutherton6193 жыл бұрын
assign the auto filter to macro 1 and it stops the jumping issue.

I have been enjoying your videos on using Live and both Push and APC40 for DJing. I have all three and will follow the videos on my gear. I am curious if you have Serato and have tried that with the Live and the hardware? With Serato Pro you also get FX control, and was wondering how that might work with Live.

Hey dude - I hope you can read English. My girlfriend is French and has translated the question for me. You should use 16bit and 44.1 as a standard. How are you recording the performance? You are recording it into a spare channel then exporting? Are you sure it's not passing through additional processing accidentally?

Hey Andrew! I just restarted to produce and dj and your videos really help me a lot, even though I'm producing and playing trance. But still, I love to listen and to dance to psytrance, too. This series has brought me to the point where I really enjoy djing in Ableton Live. I've got only one problem. I'm using the Live 11 Standard version and I can't find the rewind and fast forward buttons. I figured that it's still important to be able to have this option, even though I can warp and set cue points. Some tracks change their tempo in the break and then the warping doesn't work in the outro of the track and the kick will not be synchronized well. How can I solve that?
