Doesn't matter if the game is full pay or a horrible pay table, you aren't going to get more royals or more big wins.... The smaller wins pay more... 96 JOB doesn't hit more royals than 65 JOB, you just go broke faster on 65 than 96.

I've played Full Pay Deuces Wild machines in Las Vegas many times, and I've never hit four deuces twice and two royal flushes in a matter of a couple of days. I understand why Caesars wanted to lower the pay tables, but his hits had nothing to do with the pay tables. Mr. Brody just got extremely lucky. You can still find over 100% payback video poker machines at some local casinos (10/7 Double Bonus and 10/6 Double-Double Bonus). They are few and far between for obvious reasons, but it doesn't guarantee that your bankroll will last until you hit a Royal Flush. I've been a video poker player for nearly 30 years, and I've never been dealt a Royal Flush.

I do agree he was extremely lucky. Begs the question if Caesars would’ve still spot the mistake had he not got those hits.
@scottarooni7 ай бұрын
@@ClubMikeV Oh, yes! I definitely agree with you there! Brody definitely brought attention to that machine and Caesars decided they needed to lower the pay table. 😁

Full-pay machines are rare nowadays, especially in the tight casinos on the strip. I'm sure that they did not intend to use that pay table, but in their typical fashion they blamed the customer for playing it. The pay table didn't make any difference in hitting the royal flush/four deuces anyway.

At random, a royal flush will be dealt on the first five cards once in 649,740 hands. So, to "expect" to be dealt a royal once in a 30 year span, you would have to average playing 21,658 hands per year. If you play more than that, and you haven't been dealt a royal in 30 years, you've been somewhat unlucky in that regard. I sure miss the days of 10/7 triple play double bonus. Easily my favorite video poker game of all time.

Interesting story Mike - Which has prompted me to relate this experience. My first hand of video poker was in 1981 at the Sahara Casino and have played many more since. In February 2023 I stayed at the South Point in Las Vegas for a week. While there I played each day and I'm guessing I played about 4000 VP hands per day. I got five royals while I was there (which of course is unbelievable). After I got home, I received my monthly comp mailing and to my surprise I no longer received free rooms. I called and talked to the casino host and was told winnings are considered by their comps algorithm and there was nothing he could do to help. As of today, I have lifetime totals of 65 royals 5 of which were dealt and most all were single line play. Keep up the interesting content!!

Thank you for sharing your experience. Interesting response by the casino host. I wonder how many more casinos now factor winnings into account when determining comps? 🤔

Greetings from Torrance! Nice story! Sometimes though, people get on a massive hot streak. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, the smart ones take advantage. The rest of us think "Wait a minute, I was on a hot streak and didn't up my bet! Doh!" Thanks again Mike!
@Henry_Fung7 ай бұрын
The main thing for Brody was to stay in the game longer because of that four of a kind paying 5, which happens pretty often. He might have busted out without that. Caesars still has 9/6 jacks or better in that high limit room, and 9/5 a few machines down, and last week I played the 9/5 to get to a tier bonus faster (since the 9/6 earns points much slower). You can tell the difference once you start sinking and the extra credit will help pull you up.

The payout table would not change the very unlikely outcome of two royal flushes, it would only pay more on the other hands. Of course the positive payouts would allow you to chase royals if lucky by adding to your bankroll, but would still require good luck as it's easy to lose even on a 101% payout machine! Great video!
@flossugar7 ай бұрын
You're representing it as if the pay table had some bearing on the hands dealt. Yes it was set to slightly over 100% payback but that has no relevance to him getting the hands that he did. He hit those hands because he was lucky. The pay table just means its the smartest machine in the casino to play as long as you know perfect strategy.
@ClubMikeV7 ай бұрын
That is true. Curious to know if the casino would’ve spotted the mistake at roughly the same time had he not hit those jackpots.
@sexygeek89967 ай бұрын
@@ClubMikeV I don't think they would have spotted it unless their routine accounting indicated that the machine was losing money, which could happen if it was always being played by knowledgeable players. Most casino employees on the floor couldn't tell a good pay table from a lousy one.
@sabretom75947 ай бұрын
I can’t figure out why you are calling this a mistake, you can find this pay table in many places. The pay table odds assume flawless play.
@ClubMikeV7 ай бұрын
@@sabretom7594 Incorrect. Full-pay deuces wild has been extinct for about 2 years now. As for it being a mistake, if other players were able to play the game after Mr. Brody and word got out, groups of professional VP players I think would try to monopolize the machine. And yes, short term variance means that they can still lose in a given session, but over the long term, it would hurt the casino’s bottom line had it not corrected it’s mistake.

Great story....as soon as I saw the close up, I thought to myself "is that a full pay machine?" Consulted my VP scouting guide...Don't see those anymore. Dueces is my game...I believe all my royals are Dueces, save one, JoB. 👍

I dont think the pay table had any bearing on the hands dealt, It only helps with payback percentage over time I was just at a casino, playing 9/6 Double Double Bonus and within 20 minutes hit quad deuces twice, quad kings and a Royal Flush looking at my screen shots, 2:48pm - hit quad deuces 2:51pm - hit Royal Flush 2:55pm - Tech cleared machine (time was printed on W2G) 3:04pm - hit quad deuces (tech brought my cash just as I hit this) 3:08pm - hit quad Kings

I hit a royal on the first spin once in my life and the machine locked up and I got my hand pay. What happened next shocked me. They told me I had to finish they and draw? I didn't know what to do so I hit Draw without saving any cads like a normal game. I won nothing. This was 40 years ago in the GN in LV. Could I held all 5 cards - not likely but I think I could have held 10 thru king having a great flush draw? Please respond if you know.
@ClubMikeV7 ай бұрын
That is strange. I think most machines today automatically hold the royal if you receive it in the initial 5 dealt cards, preventing you from discarding it. You said the machine locked up so I thought that is what happened. Did they pay you your hand pay? Maybe they told you to play it off and start a new hand after. All video poker games allow you to hold all 5 cards.

Your story makes no sense you say you got your hand pay and then you said they reset the machine and you got something again?

I’ve only spot machines that give a disadvantage to the player. Seriously there are 3 machines at my local casino that are not hooked into the video poker nickel progressive. I have proof and I have shown the casino managers who admit it is a problem (that they need to have igt fix).
