I think it is incredibly likely that he didn’t think about that at all. We have to keep in mind that Mr. Boddy had been blackmailing them successfully for at least a few years given the information we have. After all that time with nothing from the guests but compliance, Mr. Boddy probably got overconfident. Cocky. He would have hoped to use their desperation to keep their secrets to get them to do whatever he said, as he had been already doing as a blackmailer. He already had control of them - he was the only reason all of the guests’ secrets hadn’t been spilled. So why would this be any different? I bet it was a shock to him (at least in two of the endings). When one is so drunk with the power they hold over others, it’s easy to miss the obvious and make mistakes.

I met Christopher Lloyd at a convention in Orlando about 4 months ago and he's been one of my favorite icons of my childhood since Roger rabbit, star trek 3 and the back to the Future trilogy. SPOILER (Although it is from 1985) What I don't understand is why did the real butler (M. Boddy in this scene) agree to "play the part" of M. Boddy? Did I miss the explanation in the movie? I'm guessing that maybe M. Boddy (Wadsworth) promised him a lot of money in exchange, but I wanted to know if the reason was mentioned in the movie.

SPOILER Mr. Boddy's staff were actually in the whole shindig, providing information to him for his blackmail, hence why they were all eliminated. I wager they were paid handsome salaries for their cooperation and silence as well.

mariecookie1 that is not the actual "real ending" to the movie. Theatres would randomly show one of the endings and when the video and DVDs were made they simply framed it that way, if you follow the film the Ms. Scarlet/ Yvette ending is the one that makes the most sense.
