Eileen Brennan and Madeline Kahn had such genius instincts for how to play a comedic moment. It comes not out of making 'light' of something, but out of playing something totally straight that is absolutely absurd, for example Miss Peacock's horrified reaction to socialist intrigues at 0:12.

Interesting but little known fact. Leslie Ann Warren was the Miss Scarlet understudy. Miss Scarlet was originally set to be played by Carrie Fisher (best known as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise). However, the day before filming began, Fisher went into rehab for alcohol/drug addiction. Henceforth, her understudy (Warren) took her place.

As great as this movie is it does have moments that go unanswered. One thing is who was the F.B.I. targeting this whole time. Mr. Body or whoever was threatening to kill him. Obviously the F.B.I was in on this plot the whole time and through all three endings. The first two being that Wadsworth wasn't The Bulter or A Butler but an uncover F.B.I. agent assigned to investigate. The third ending it's Mr. Green who's the undercover agent. So the question remains who was the F.B.I. targeting in this movie.

@melissawickersham99126 ай бұрын
Isn’t there a secret passage that goes from the kitchen to the study in both the board game and the film? In fact...there actually is a secret passage that connects those rooms and it’s a plot point in this film. Hill House’s ground floor is just like that of the mansion in the board game. The secret passage that connects the kitchen and the study is a shortcut that slices diagonally through the game board, allowing one to get from point A (the kitchen) to point B (The Study) without having to move in a semicircle around the full area of the board. So instead of going through the two sides of the triangle between the study at one corner of the board and the kitchen at the opposite corner, you use the hypotenuse of the triangle (where the secret passage is) to get from one corner to the other much faster.
