I'm pretty sure that, canonically, the murderer's character is intentionally spewing out incorrect theories to throw off their scent. If they accuse themselves, then they're choosing to confess to the crime and get a more lenient sentence.

Clue is a terrible concept for a game, just think about this: A man was murdered, but instead of working together to find the culprit everyone is hoarding evidence in order to "win" the honor of solving a murder. Could you imagine if a police officer actively hid evidence from other police officers because they wanted to be the one to solve a murder?

But remember that all of them are suspects. They all know that one of them is the culprit, they just don’t know who. In that case, it makes a bit more sense, considering you don’t want to share evidence with a suspect and if the killer finds out you have incriminating evidence you could be killed as well.

@thekingofston7591
@thekingofston7591 2 жыл бұрын
@@am3thysts line means somone has that card, x means they didnt have that card and check means that person has that card. The chart itself is bigger because you are tracking every single action someone is sugesting. The figures at the top relate to the players p1, p2, p3 and so on. The bubbles on a item or preson or place means that you believe it could be that person place or thing.

@Yeldren
@Yeldren 2 жыл бұрын
I've never played it myself, but I'm pretty sure this is how it works. It's actually a pretty complicated game: At the start of the game, three cards are put into the middle: a character, a weapon, and a room. The goal of the game is to correctly accuse the right character with the right weapon in the right room as the crime. Each player gets three cards, pretty sure it's a character, a weapon, and a room, just like the cards in the centre. Play begins with a player going to a room and making a suggestion (not an accusation) of what the crime could have been. Odds are pretty damn good that they got something wrong in their suggestion - it could be the wrong character, the wrong weapon, the wrong room or any combination of the above. If anyone has a card matching one of your suggestion's aspects, they can show you their card and you know that it couldn't have been the card they showed you - and of course this applies to the cards you hold as well. Weirdly enough, you can suggest and accuse yourself - and if you're right, you still win. An example probably helps. Let's say that the crime was Colonel Mustard with the Rope in the Hall (for the lulz). My cards are Professor Plum with the Revolver in the Kitchen, and your cards are Miss Scarlet with the Candlestick in the Lounge. Right off the bat, I know that the murderer can't be Plum, the weapon can't be the Revolver, and the room can't be the Kitchen, because those are my cards and thus they're not the cards in the middle. I don't know what your or anyone else's cards are at the start of the game. To try to narrow down what the crime is, I suggest it's Miss Peacock with the Lead Pipe in the Lounge. Since one of your cards is the Lounge, you are obligated to privately show me that card - and now I know that the room can't be the Kitchen or the Lounge. If another player had Miss Peacock or the Lead Pipe, they can't show me their card after you've shown me the Lounge - only one part of the suggestion can be disproven at once. Note that I'd have to be in the Lounge to make this suggestion, and Miss Peacock's token gets moved here as well as the players of the game take on certain characters. Play continues until someone makes an accusation and then checks the cards in the middle - if you're right, you show everyone the cards in the middle and you win; if you're wrong you put the cards back in the middle without revealing their contents. If you made a wrong accusation you may no longer move your token or make suggestions or accusations, but must still show cards to disprove suggestions from other players.

Yeldren - minor correction: after the three cards, one of each type, are placed in the center, the remaining cards are shuffled together, so players can get any number of any type of card. There’s more rooms than any other category, so it’s highly likely you end up with multiple room cards. In the first game, RT had three room cards (you can tell by his notebook crossing through the cards he owned). The other players get the leftover cards, so if there’s less than 6 players, you’re getting more than 3 cards.
@thewanderingmistnull2451
@thewanderingmistnull2451 2 жыл бұрын
@@Yeldren Minor add-n: Pay attention to what _other_ players ask for, because if they ask another player for something that you have two components of, and the other player shows them something, you know it's the third component and can cross it off your own list. You can also ask after cards you know other players cannot possibly have, since they're in your hand, but this is better saved for when you're trying to narrow down things at the end.

One thing I've always loved about this game is that with the way you have to guess what weapon was used through process of elimination, it suggests that all characters present are completely incapable of telling a gunshot wound from 'clubbed in head with candlestick' or 'strangled with rope'. Lead pipe vs wrench I could understand, but if you can't tell rope strangulation marks from 28 stab wounds, I'm not sure you should be the person in charge of investigating this murder 🤔

If you've ever seen the movie, then you'd know that the ineptitude of the characters knows no bounds. They didn't realize that the dead body, wasn't actually dead.
