I have seen alot of BAND-MAID reactors not liking this..I believe it's because they are seeing and hearing it in a BAND-MAID frame of mind NOT Cluppo....THIS isn't meant to be BAND-MAID in any form other than it's Miku singing it...And it was created for an anime..NOT a rock concert...I love this track and have listened it alot since it came out....It's perfrect for the musical style and end use it was created for....For me, Miku brought us the best band in the world..which brought light to my darkness since losing my partner to cancer.....She can do no wrong.....I have even brought her "Lil Cumin" releases..Something I would never of brought before BAND-MAID....Yes they are very cutesy....THEY ARE MEANT TO BE!!..But it makes me smile..and I need that in this sh*** world right now...I'm off to watch the "Lil Cumin" video (there is one on YT of them live)..As it makes me smile.

I faced the same loss just last year. Band Maid, those exceptionally talented women, have provided a musical score for me to at least try and heal (though 'Smile' still makes me cry). Cluppo is amazing and is just another side of one of the most talented young ladies I know). I love Miku for the person she is - we can all enjoy one of the best bands in years simply because she didn't give-up on her dream. I hope Cluppo becomes the success Band Maid did..she deserves it). 🎴

🕊 💕 'With You' was written for the end credits in the 'Smile of the Arsnotoria' anime. Miku played through the video game the anime is based on to understand the world it takes place in. "But AI won't lose." is a play on words. It sounds like "I won't lose.", but "AI" means "love", so (according to a Miku interview) it's also "LOVE won't lose".

The AI thing is on purpose. She wrote it in katakana in the Japanese lyrics (alphabet usually used for non-Japanese loan words). That gives it ambiguity between the English "I" and the Japanese "ai" (love). The song itself was contracted as the end credits music for an anime, and the lyrics are tailored both to that and the game it's based on.

The first words from her are amongst the cutest deliveries of pretty much all time. Never underestimate our pigeon's ability to just wrap you up in joy for a few fleeting moments and leave a lifetime of an impression. To me this song breathes the expression of coming out of a night into a sunrise.. even without the video. There are times that Cluppo feels very much like a project which lets us see a parallel universe.

"Ai" is love, and is pronounced like like the letter "I". I think it is a play on words "Love won't lose" and "I won't lose". Also, this is an ending theme for an anime, and it works very well for its purpose.

The comment section was pretty interesting for this vid. Lots of helpful comments, some ambivalent ones, and more negative ones than I would have thought. Someone even going so far as to say Miku is an unskilled guitarist and dislikes being a rock star. Ok, sure . . . 🤨 Anyway, I like this song. Like so many have said, this is an anime ending song. Stylistically it's very much in the style of japanese "City Pop" that was born in late 70's and peaked in the 80's. It was supposed to be Japans answer to western pop and AOR. City Pop has very laid-back, groovy, lounge-y, and at times almost soul feel.

Just to give you more info, she was just talking about this one on radio this weekend. She mentioned that she had to sing it more airy than normal and the anime producers gave a lot of input into this particular song vs say the Band-Maid one with Sense. Had a feeling you'd ask about the "ai(Japanese for love)/I" won't lose. Miku's usual dual meaning lyrics that she tends to do. We talked about this in discord when it initially came out because many people were confused about it

I agree with you entirely. This, like Sense, were composed for an anime which in both cases limited the composition to represent the theme of the anime to a degree. Both of which also turned out to not be the favourits of some of the madiacs. For me, Miku can do no wrong and developing her own solo genre can only be good for her and music. She is much smarter than some less informed poeple think.

The style of this song would be considered "City Pop" in Japan. It was a style that was popular in 80's J-pop and had a definite disco influence to it.

In literally every interview she has mentioned how much input the anime producers had on the direction of this song. There was a lot of feedback on the kind of song they wanted. They did a good job of matching the feel of the song to the atmosphere of the anime. The song is a pleasant listen, but I'm glad that, left to her own devices (along with Crows 1, 2, and 3, the mystery cluppo songwriting and recording team), we got the EP we did.

Miku is an anime charactor...."Yui Hirasawa"....from the anime "K-On!"...It's about a girl who creates a 5 piece female band!...I believe it's an anime Miku watched when she was young....They almost/did wear Maid costumes if correct...She is also the same height and born in the same year as the charactor..The charactors b-day is November 27, 1991, Miku's October 21, 1991....Coincidence?....

Hey Champ..I wasn't gonna watch.....as I have been dissapointed in other reactors assessment of this track...Your's is the best I have heard....I guess it's because of your liking for at least some pop...so you do see it for what it is.....And so gave it a fair shake....You had good insights to the lyrics. I feel there is alot of hidden meanings in Miku's lyrics..whether for Cluppo or BAND-MAID...She has said there isn't...but I don't think you could write lyrics without influences from your life showing in some form....No matter how much you tried not to..it's human nature...you write about what you know or have experienced...And I feel the more folks listen to this track when in the right situation..it will grow on them...For me ..I love it..."It does what it says on the tin"..as the saying goes.

Since I believe she;s such a genius...lol... sometimes I wonder if each of the Cluppo tracks are a horse, and she's ltting them run to see how they "finish"....That order will influence the future direction of the project... For me with Cluppo she is showing that she really is/was the driving force behind band maid all along... Her orginal idea had herself as lead singer... and she knew they need a stronger voice for that sound...her she is more "free"... creative genius... bodhisttva... lol I admire the hell out of that... I kind of see Captain Mina with Fate Gear in that light, but in a less....soft...way...:) I'm hoping Haruna with Lovebites has some of that in her as well...

I think this is the real Miku. She say in an early interview Justin Bieber was her favorite "musician", she was and is the most "kawai pop like" member of BM, she don't care about being a guitar rocking star (yes, maybe this is hard to swallow for the fanboys, but c'mon after 9 years she is a decent rithmic guitar but nothing more. This is not subjective, you can see how much attention require even simple variations like a begginer will do when learn to play). But if this is what make her happy then it's what she need to do. I will not listen Cluppo other than the Champ reactions like many other more rock oriented fans of Band Maid, but because she is the heart of my favorite band I want her happy and succesful.

Justin Bieber isn't terribly big in Japan. Odd choice of pop to like for a tiny Japanese girl, given the easy listening fare on offer in Japan... Combine that with the enka "Chindo Monogatari" and the theatrics of Ringo Sheena - Kobato mentions them as influences all the time - and that's clearly an unexpected, eclectic mix. It's just not metal and hard rock she started out with. Might be less "pop" and more "theater" you're looking at. The theatrics of Kobato Miku is a thing in itself with Band-Maid.

A doodoodoo a dadada - it seems your not very used to play and sing. Her rhythm parts on the UW album and Sense EP are not trivial at all and them combined with singing countermelodies over it is not something you do for breakfast. She became a very solid and crucial for the band sound rhythm player. She lays the fundament, that allows Akane, Misa and Kanami going nuts. Beside that she’s a fantastic lyricist and band promoter. She came a long way in the last ten years.
