Always saw Corn snakes as being more newbie friendly than Ball pythons. Both are easy but the humidity requirements and temp requirements on the corn snake are just so much more forgiving. If you live in in the eastern and southern eastern states, the humidity in your house is basically good enough, and for temps you dont need a hot much more than what most people house temps already are, around the mid 80's is good enough. Even if during the winter months you somehow lose power for a few days in the south, or live in a state that has -degree weather, corn snakes can survive in a 60 degree house fairly easy for days as long as they're well fed, try that with a ball python.

True, i would always recommend a cornsnake over a ballpython as a first per snake. (Although many species can be good “beginner snakes”) in my opinion, as long as the passion and knowledge for the species is present🙂
