So I am A 57-year-old woman grew up on dirt bikes, and I have a Yamaha Enduro on off-road. It’s a bigger bike than that one for sure how many pounds am I going to be cranking on those bolts to tighten them back up and how do you measure pounds when you’re tightening some thing up? I’m trying to fix this without getting my brother involved.
@SchnebsGarage3 ай бұрын
Bolts are 7-11 ft lbs of torque, you'd measure that with a torque wrench. Its not a lot and is real easy to overtighten and break something as most of the threads in there are just into aluminum.

Would stuck clutch plates make it where you have to rev up really high to take off so it doesn't die.
@SchnebsGarage11 ай бұрын
Not really, they pretty much stick solid or work fine. Sounds like you have a bogging issue with a dirty carb, bad gas or bad spark plug. Those kind of issues most likely.

Yes, you are right. I can only recommend repairs, in the end its up to the owner to decide if they want to replace things. The water pump shaft in this case is badly pitted so we put in a new seal but it wont last long before coolant leaks into the case again.
@franex93211 ай бұрын
thanks man, the moment at 2.16. what should you expect if the clutch plates were fine.
@SchnebsGarage11 ай бұрын
It only takes 1 to stick to lock it up pretty good. If they are truly fine then the ridges that get cut into the basket can cause a clutch to stick. Other than that stretched cable or adjustment tends to be a common problem.

Needing to replace the clutch arm seal on a 2006 YZ85.....Does the clutch need removed to get the clutch arm to lift up out of the left side case?
@SchnebsGarage5 ай бұрын
No, you don't need to remove the clutch for this job. The push rod that goes from the lever through the clutch will be under tension so you will have to open the right side cover and just take out the 5 bolts to relieve pressure to get that rod back in. Hope this helps.

Once I got to the point. Something about it sitting in too long and it's a causing it to stick cause mine's brand new. I didn't file it but most likely. That's what it was and you should almost say that in the beginning a few key things that might impact what's going on and that might keep people on. Your video a little longer. So I have a 01 80 that I just did a full motor rebuild/restore and when I put in the clutches and the plate with the springs the cliches move around without the cluch pulled or even when it’s unhooked I added another clutch and when installed it would hit the inside of the cluch cover
@alstonasby58833 жыл бұрын
Eny help?
@SchnebsGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@alstonasby5883 possible you dont have the pressure plate splines aligned. So the clutches will end up spaced away about 1/8" and never fully engage clutch. Its kind of tricky to put that clutch pack in there and occasionally it'll pop off the last clutch plate. Also there's a washer/spacer between the clutch pressure plate and the outer hub sometimes that'll drop down during assembly and jam things up.
@SchnebsGarage3 жыл бұрын
I havent done an 01 yz80 but most likely they have timing marks like the 85's and have to be assembled right. 8:28 in the video explains how to line up the cover.

Book says 10-30 or 10-40 motor oil but I know a lot of folks use 80wt and have no problems. I suspect the problem in this one was a bad water pump seal and coolant got in there during the winter which caused the plates to stick together.

@@Dylan.99 Well there's a few things other than the driver that could cause that, dirty carb, especially this time of year when you first take the bike outta storage.
