I have a 2001 Vulcan 1500classic. My clutch was slipping so a friend helped me replace the plates. We soaked the fiber plates, got everything put back together. Now, the clutch is extremely stiff (hand strain to engage it). Also, when the clutch is engaged, the bike still wants to drive forward. At stop sign, I have to have the brake on to prevent the bike moving forward. I question now that we didn't look for a specific side on the steel plates as to what direction to place them. I don'tknow? Friend says it's just stiff due to a break in period, but I question whether it is safe to ride or will burn out the parts. I'm 90 miles from closest place to get it worked on. Ideas?

see I am having the same problem with mine?? did ya ever get it fixed I put all the stuff back together and when I pull the lever its very hard and when I pull the lever and pop it into first it jumps forward and dies like the clutch never disengaged?????

Did you adjust your clutch cable when you installed the new clutch?

DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHY THE CLUTCH LEVER IS NOW NEARLY SOLID? What was reassembled incorrectly? Vulcan 1500fi here and I also have done this repair which ended with a clutch lever that now feels like a brake. Very hard pull and lever fails to actuate clutch. I have seen here others came in looking for a solution same as me.

yo I have a 1998 Vulcan 1500 and like a few of the people below after it was put back together the lever was very still and the clutch wont disengage..i pull in the lever and put it in first and it jumps and dies...any clues???? does anyone have a clue????

@@wesdrake9169 looking at other videos it may be the three cup shaped washer they need to be installed as in the start of the video. it may also be the placement of that last fiber clutch plate it must be in the next notch from the rest. i will be just starting to remove my clutch to get at the plastic oil pump gear to replace it before it fails. please let me know what the issue was as i am tackling this right behind you. good luck

Nice try at the video. Is there any helpful if you zoomed in on what you were talking about as you were talking about it. We could not see the items you were saying you can see here. Thomas you did pretty good effort into it. What's up you would have been nice.
