At 1:00 you said "With a lighter rider it'll overrev". It's the opposite. Less drag/resistance in the system so rpms go down. Heavier rider =more resistance/drag in the system so the rpms go up trying to overcome the extra weight/drag/resistance in the system. Same with surfaces..take a sled perfectly clutched for maimum traction like ice or tar and try to run it on a surface that it will spin on like normal/loose snow and your rpms will go down substantially because there's less drag/resistance in the system because the track is spinning so you need to lighten primary weight or tighten the secondary with a possible helix change to slow down the shift or do all 3 things.

HI DIGIT9, I have a 15 Pro RMK with 4600KM on it the previous owner did no clutch maintanence... LOL can you suggest a spring and weight set up for the primary, it does not engage until 2800-3600rpm the spring is a 140-330 black, have to pull out the weights tonight. any answer will help thanks
@DIGIT93 жыл бұрын
stock set up is usually pretty good , depends where your riding, and how long the sled is , you could always try a little less angle on the finishing angle of the secondary helix ? and again depends on the altitude , should pull 64 gram weights ?

Hi I have a 2018 early release m8000, I ride sea level to 1000 feet max, should I got heavier in the weights it’s hitting around 8400rpm. Thanks
@DIGIT93 жыл бұрын
Yes Yes , should be reving around 8200 ! 2 gram heavier weights
@ediwaldosanchez72683 жыл бұрын
I bought some clutch weights only to find out two of them were precisely what they should weigh and the other one was .9 g heavier . Would it still be okay to use or would that cause damage to the motor due to the possible wobble from not being balanced
@DIGIT93 жыл бұрын
They should all be the exact same ! Thats why so many motors fall apart !

Good morning, I spend a bit of time watching your videos and I have not quite found an answer. I have a 2000 Thundercat and the primary clutch is opening way to soon (under 10 mph) I took it apart and the red spring seem quite strong, rollers are good and the weights are all free and smooth. Do you have any ideas? Rich

Talkin primary or secondary ?

What rpm ?
@RichardBrown-be3fm3 жыл бұрын
@@DIGIT9 primary. My secondary spring was very weak so that was replaced this morning and the belt is now riding up where it needs to. On the primary, when I attempt to get going even under light throttle, I think that clutch is (and i just noticed my error above) the primary is SHUTTING to quickly. I can hear the belt slap and squel and have no power.
@RichardBrown-be3fm3 жыл бұрын
@@DIGIT9 I would have to ghuess on the RPM, But it is most likey shutting at 5000 rpm give or take. Pretty much just after you get rolling and then try to idle up.
@DIGIT93 жыл бұрын
You need a softer spring in primary , should be engaging at about 3000-3500 rpm , not 5000 , unless your drag racing ?

So I have a 2015 m8000 153”. I’m roughly 200 pounds with all my gear. And I’m riding at sea level. What clutch weights and spring should I be running if you know? Thanks

I have a old ice fishing sled, Yamaha vk540, it's fairly smooth soon as you get going and then a vibration starts in the clutches until you reach higher rpm then it seems to smooth out again, any ideas? That is if my question makes any sense🤣 great channel by the way! Cheers from a small town between revy and Calgary( I know you know where I'm talking haha)
@DIGIT93 жыл бұрын
I do know that small town , you ever try a new belt ? also if the track is like a 0.5 inch lug , it will vibrate on hard pack but get better in deeper snow !
