I struggled with the "tupperwear" FOREVER....then I switched to glass containers (container and lid are both glass, with a silicone gasket on the lid, from Ikea) and the issue went away, 100%! Glass is easier to stack and store (both containers and lids), they are heavy enough that they don't slide around in the cabinet or drawer, and they also (for some reason) instantly got us to eat our leftovers - no more mystery foods growing in the fridge.

I recently moved all my small appliances, waffle maker, blender, can opener, air fryer, countertop grill, etc., to shelves and cupboards closest to where I use them. Now I use them more often and put them away right after using them, love it!

Just found your channel and loving these decluttering and cleaning videos! One hack I learned from the minimal mom and a slob comes clean is to put lids on the food containers and put them away that way! It keeps you from keeping too many containers and you never are looking for a lid or bottom!! It’s been life changing!! 😍 Also loved your idea about putting the things you need all the time in the more easier accessible spot instead of the difficult cupboard!!

The key phrase you use that I love as you organize is "It makes sense to me.". My mother in law used to feel free to move and declutter without my permission and took pride in saying, "Just call me if you can't find something.". It took years before I realized while she thought she was helping, she was overstepping. And the only thing that mattered was that things went where they made sense to ME. I told her she was not to move anything without asking first and if it didn't make sense, I told her no.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised....I'm a first time watcher, and initially, when I saw your immaculate kitchen, I doubted your sincerity, and couldn't conceive of any way to improve on it....but you showed your hidden problem areas....and now I have nothing but respect. 🙂 I especially like the way you repurposed the corner cabinet to truly be really functional. Those things are usually complete chaos. Thanks! I'm definitely going to be checking out your other videos, and I'm sorry I pre- judged you so quickly! 💕

What really helps me is to keep the lids on the tupperware. That means I cannot keep too many (I only keep what fits in the drawer) and I never have to rummage through the drawer when I have leftover food that I want to put away.

Thank you for showing your rotating shelves. As a result, I exchanged the contents of a drawer next to my stove with that inside the top shelf of my lazy susan cabinet. They had been stored that way for 15 years. I was storing baking dishes in the lazy susan, but they never fit correctly and fell behind the shelves sometimes. Now they are in pile inside a drawer next to the stove. I am not much of a baker so my "cookie " sheet is on the top. I use this often for frozen fries and fish, etc. My "ziploc" bags and wraps are now in the lazy susan . This makes sense, since sandwiches are made on the counter above this cabinet.

Our Tupperware drawer drove me crazy. My hubby suggested we keep the lids on the actual containers and switch the Tupperware to a large pot drawer( as we have lots of containers and I didn’t want to get rid of them). Almost 3 years later, the drawer has stayed organized and when we are putting away leftovers, it’s so easy to grab the container that already has the lid on it. Sometimes, it definitely pays to switch cupboards. Xx

I love your kitchen, and all the drawers make easy access. Here are some suggestions about where to store different things in your kitchen. I don't keep straws with my cooking utensils, I put them in my coffee and tea cabinet in one glass container. You could also try putting them by your glasses or cups you would use with them. Try putting your lids on your Tupperware containers. That way you only grab one thing and don't need to search for a lid. Saves time. My only exception to that is I stack these round and tall plastic deli containers for batch cooking but I keep all of my containers for leftovers with their lids on. I would put the chopping board vertically in a regular cabinet. Also I would suggest to putting the rolling pin near baking supplies

FINALLY took down all of the Christmas decorations and my husband stored them away. The living room is clean and feels so big! Kitchen feels clean again. I have one cabinet and one junk drawer that needs to be decluttered. The main bathroom will be scrubbed tomorrow and the floors will be mopped. I have 2 bedrooms that need to be decluttered. We are empty nesters so our clutter isn’t major. Thought on storage containers. I have changed over to glass containers from the cheap plastic containers. The cheap plastic containers are used for to go containers for visitors. I don’t store them in my kitchen cabinets - only in my pantry - as compact as possible.

I just recycled a grocery bag full of those disposable food storage containers. I keep all my wraps, bags and parchment paper in one drawer, too. Long ago, I read about organizing things in zones. I had that in mind when working with the designer for my new kitchen. I love my baking zone with its dedicated upper cupboard for spices, flours and under the counter there are mixing bowls, hand mixers (yes, I have 2 AND a Kitchenaid stand mixer on the counter). Above my wall oven is storage for baking pans.
@chrys77cross3 жыл бұрын
It looks like you have the space in your Tupperware drawer for this: I have issues with the rest of my house but not my storage containers because I store the lids on the container it belongs with! Yup, that means no nesting of containers and more space utilized but it also means I know what I have and what doesn't have a lid and needs to go - which becomes rare and so results in less tossed and lost lids and containers in the long run!

You’re just the best. One tip I heard for Tupperware is to store them with the lid on already (think it Dawn from the Minimal Mom) that way you always have a lid and you don’t have more container than you do storage space. I started do that in the beginning of December and it’s been so much easier to find and use my Tupperware.

I got rid of all of last years used ziplock bags, a ton of twist ties and breast milk bag labels (last needed in 2011 😱), some old hand towels and wash cloths we used to use when the kids were toddlers (My youngest is 9!). The actual declutter part took about 5 minutes but I got distracted with a bit of detailed cleaning 😂. Now I'm feeling motivated to tackle another drawer.

The only way I've been able to keep my storage containers together is by swapping my pots and pans from the wall cabinet to the drawers and the storage containers to the cabinet stacked on eachother with their lids on (I only have lock and lock style so that's probably why it works). I threw the ziplocks and aluminum foil in there too (emptied that drawer to space out my cooking utensils and gadgets) since its above my food serving/pack things away area. After watching all of these declutters all I have left is my wreck of a pantry lol and seasonal stuff to go through.

A great tip I now use from Dana K. White from “A Slob Comes Clean” is to put your lids and containers together. Then you don’t have to spend so much time rifling for lids, it all stays organized, and it helps you to store less, as you have less space.

Be careful though that your containers are totally dry before you put the lids on them. As Jennifer on "The Daily Connoisseur" pointed out on her video today you might get things growing in your containers. She has containers where the lids snap onto the bottoms. Same results in terms of rifling, organization and storing less but no danger of inadvertent science projects.

Dear Steph! A good year to you and your family! At the moment we bring a new cupboard into the kitchen (the space is free since 11 years) with the chance to fill it with system. But this is not the thing because I write. Its because of the Tupperware-Bin. Nearly my whole house is unorganized (some areas not), but the kitchen is organized. And yes I might be one of the not-existing-women who has organized Tupperware. And its really easy. My rules: Don't put the whole Tupperware in one place. Theres the place for cooling food. Saueges, cheese are in another than those for vegetables and cooked food). Because of diffrent materials. Than preparing food (Salad/Backery). Another is ice-"cups" (Formen). To-go-Tupperware (Buisness and Kindergarten). And the three Bols for serving food at partys. Every category is near that place where I use it. Think its your keramik (porcellain) dishes. Do you all plates, bols, cups and mugs, plates for the oven,.. throw into one drawer.... You never would do that. I will look for your new video organize your tupperware ;-) Bettina
