CM Punk has the respect of legends because he always respected them, and respected wrestling as a whole. I was an ROH watcher back in the day and Punk would always work with the legends like Terry Funk, Ricky Steamboat, and Baron von Raschke. Punk being able to captivate the audience with his mic skills proved he could hang, especially on the mic with Cena. Years ago, I was lucky enough to be at an autograph signing with Stone Cold Steve Austin - now, signings like that are pretty popular so you've got time for an autograph, handshake & quick photo (& maybe a question) But Austin had time & I forgot what incident was being reported on at the time - it was a similar backstage incident but it was just some WWE rumor & Austin basically said a lot of worse things happen backstage & most of the stuff is never reported on, especially when he started out in the business. Which kind of tells me yeah, I like Punk & yeah, I think he needs to relax backstage but I get where he's coming from considering his history of getting backstabbed - I'd be paranoid a little myself. But ultimately, I think things like what happened recently happen a lot more than we know & have been way worse & we've never seen it. I just want to see CM Punk wrestle - I know he loves the business & I want to see him & his contemporaries enjoy making a living doing what they love without all the unnecessary drama.

@@ChaosTheory9 yeah, and Joe STILL did the job for Punk. If the shoe had been on the other foot, no way would Punk do the job for Joe. Watching this at the same time AEW All Out 2023 is playing LIVE on my television. Tony Khan is the most unprofessional “leader” of a Wrestling Organization in history. That list includes Vince Russo. You mean to tell me, your biggest and brightest draw in CM Punk was awarded the coveted Iron Mike Mazurki Award by Cauliflower Alley Club, whose past awardees include Gene LaBell, Lou Thez, Stu & Bret Hart, “Killer” Kowalski, Terry Funk, Harley Race, and Steve Austin to name a few, for having achieved success in more professional fields than just wrestling, just days before a workplace incident that was first provoked on international television, and you choose to fire him? If Tony Khan was a more professional Wrestling Company President, Co-Owner, General Manager, Executive Producer and Booker, INSTEAD OF TREATING AEW LIKE IT WAS HIS TOY, and if he treated the wrestlers as employees instead of co-workers or in worse case as friends, not only would the CM Punk/Jack Perry Situation would have never happened, neither would have last years Punk/Omega/YoungBucks Situation. Look at how Vince McMahon has handled WWE for decades. That man is the epitome of leadership who puts profits first. Yes, he has had HR blunders in his past, but nothing has ever stopped Vince McMahon for contributing to the growth of WWE, while at the same time being a leader that very few former employees have negative things to say about him. Tony Khan needs to be trained in Management. If problems like this continue between him, AEW and wrestlers, it won’t be long before DiscoveryWarnerBros, TNT and TBS will not continue to air or promote the ASW Product.

I agree, I'll say again: Punk came in right before wrestling went soft. Back when if you talked sht, you were expected to back it up. Nowadays all of these entitled manchildren expect to be able to talk sht and have zero consequences because this whole generation has been pampered and coddled

CM Punk: "I'm really nervous with public speaking." Stop your humble-bragging! Everyone knows you're one of the best promos in wrestling!

He’s someone that truly loves and respects the art of professional wrestling, you can tell he got his rekindled passion back for it when he joined AEW. Unfortunately it’s a bummer that he got fired from AEW because of some arrogant young prick instigating a fight with him. There’s no doubt he was arguably AEW’s biggest draw and top merchandise seller, because of his success in AEW that nobody has been able to pull off I hope Tony regrets firing him.
