@@Texan45 nah that’s not correct. Firstly there was a lot more to it than just Vince releasing wrestlers. @conversationtosaurusrex2 жыл бұрын
@@Texan45 Thats the thing with Vince McMahon; its less to do with "Vince McMahon control freak who loves to fire people" and more to do with the circumstances of what is WWE now. For example back then during the 1990s, it was just Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson as the scriptwriters, the company gave more flexibility to WWE Wrestlers having creative freedom. As the company developed and went global, it wasn't just Vince running the executive end of the company; you had also guys like john laurinaitis or other executives taking part in the creative development of the company. Vince and the McMahon's weren't the only ones suddenly making decisions; as Vince also had to answer to a bunch of shareholders on the border of directors as a result of WWE going public. And WWE had to evolve and change overtime; WWE specifically went PG as a result of Chris Benoit's murder suicide and the backlash that came as a result to WWE, and as well; to help establish some credibility to WWE as Linda McMahon wanted to branch out and be involved in Politics; so the obvious associations of sex and violence had to be fazed out in WWE. WWE also wanted to be involved in brand deals with Hazbro and various other companies; of which wouldn't do business with a WWE until they rebranded their image.
@DuckFanDane Жыл бұрын
Well, it was the ultimate moment because it was the ultimate blurred lines between what was real and what was fake because most of it was real, especially on CM punks side and Vince McMahon’s side and basically no one knew the outcome of the match except for a select few people. There will never be a storyline like that again they captivate the audience like it did. Also having John Cena the guy that kids want to grow up to be in CM punk the guy that teenagers want to grow up to be against each other where there was no true face or heel was what made the rivalry so great. The fact that he left through the crowd with the iconic moment with the title will forever cement in history.

Kane and John Cena were two amazing competitors to do choreography with prepping for matches. Always easy, and always willing to compromise at the last second if something goes wrong. Not like dudes such as Ryback or Randy Orton that were either too aggressive or too demanding on certain moves.

@@OutlawTorn33 not really, Cena did not need that win. What torch? Rock had been gone for years and Cena had been THE GUY for years. There was no “passing of the torch”. Cena just had to get his win back, there was no reason for this match, no one wanted to see it, it ruins the whole “Once in a Lifetime” things from Mania 28, and it contributed to Punk leaving. The thing about Punk v. Cena that really worked, it was not like Rock and Austin or Hogan and Savage, neither guy wanted to out do, the other, each guy knew their position on the team, and they knew working together would make them both a lot of Cash, Cena's best opponent was Punk. The story also worked because it's the Poster Boy, Bright, Smiling, "Rise Above Hate" everything Vince McMahon looks for in a guy carrying a WWE World Title, against the guy who is his antithesis, the anti hero, who says "I embrace Hate, I love it." I could just tell Punk and Cena are not B.F.F.'s but they have a lot respect for each other.

The problem with John Cena is never been him, but the way WWE shoved him into people's throat, destroying too many careers of talented guys in the process. To the point that when Cena left, they really stopped making stars and every guy on top right now, doesn't really feel like a big deal compared to part-timers and legends from the past, since they don't get overly protected the same way Rock, Austin, HBK, Hogan, Lesnar, Taker, Cena and Orton got on their way to stardom
@no_stick_drummer27352 жыл бұрын
@Daddy longstroke4201 Stroke yeah that's why I don't blame him for the Nexus, because when you're wade Barrett and you need six or seven other guys to get you over, that's a recipe for disaster. And then you have guys like edge and Chris Jericho complaining about it which means they cared about their spot too much.

No seriously, I like Punk. He’s one of the few guys still competing who understands real pro wrestling and hasn’t been sucked into this gymnastics competition bullshit, or any other of the bastardizations that most of modern wrestling has become. But like everyone else who has reached his place in the business, he has an ego, and of course he likes to take credit. It was a disingenuous comment, but I don’t believe he’s a disingenuous guy at all. He just had a moment here and I was making light of it.
