I honestly can’t think of anybody who left a mark on the industry like CM Punk. Like has anybody ever had their name continually chanted after 5 years of never actually making a physical appearance? Even in his second UFC fight the whole arena was chanting for him. It doesn’t matter if you like the guy, or hate the guy, it’s undeniable that the dude is one of the best to ever do it. Also, his whole Straight Edge lifestyle helped me to stay on the straight and narrow and believe in myself through high school and not cave to bullying or peer pressure like some of my friends (some of which sadly aren’t here today). It doesn’t matter if he never wrestles again, I’m a fan and I got nothing but the utmost respect for the man, and I’ll check out and support whatever he does.
@joegilmore66905 жыл бұрын
Well said. Tho, I believe The Rock had his name chanted for a long time. Also, I believe the Austin WHAT!? saying was around for a long time not sure if its still around. The Rock didn't make an appearance in a long time and neither did Austin. Now they do during anniversary's and special occasions. It's a shame WWE ran this dude to the ground to the point where had no interest in wrestling ever again. He was the BEST wrestler in the WWE at the time he left.
@QuestionKnife5 жыл бұрын
Joe Gilmore the “WHAT?!” chant is Steve Austin’s thing, sure, but it isn’t his name. CM Punk actually had his NAME chanted. It was him. No one did it like him & I stopped watching WWE on a consistent basis after Wrestlemania XXX... no CM Punk = no edge
@shai3105 жыл бұрын
@@joegilmore6690 Well I think people know The Rock is a very busy man hence why the don't expect him to come wrestle again, over the years The Rock showed he cared more about making movies rather than going back to WWE. With Austin its the case that people know his neck is in a terrible shape so that's why he won't return to wrestle. Punk keeps being chanted way more even when he did nothing wrestling related unlike Rocky who did wrestle during that time and Stone Cold making apperences on Raw. I do hope we get to see Punk on commentary, as much as I would love to see him wrestle again I think he can pull it off also his name alone will bring tons of viewers to SmackDown, so it doesn't really matter if he sucks (I doubt he can be worse than Tom Phillips or Brian Saxton).

For me Punk has been an inspiring story. When that podcast was released I was struggling myself with a 100+ hour job in a place where there was no path to moving up. I was worked like a horse without any long term benefits. I never left a job before at that time. It's a scary thing. Almost like a defeatist attitude. I've always had that stubborn streak of 'I can make anything work!' But I noticed how unhappy I was. That I lost the passion for my job that I used to have. In a lot of ways that podcast inspired me to leave my job for the startup world, which spiraled my career to the direction it currently is. As a society we place too much value on 'face' but in reality your own personal satisfaction is far more important than what others think of you or your CV's face value. I'm doing what I'm doing now after having that self realization that I am hyper motivated by the long term. If I cannot see where my career can progress in 5-15 years then I find it difficult to motivate myself to push hard. I can do a good job, but not a stellar one. That knowledge that there will be new learning challenges over the horizon can inspire me to keep going no matter the work difficulty. That there is no glass ceiling to how high I can aspire. But that realization required lots of self reflection and courage that I dont think a lot of people have the time to do.

Just seems like he has no interest or desire EXCEPT for possible appearances to get a crowd reaction. Such a shame that the WWE wore this guy down so bad and didn't take care of him as he was the next BIG thing in wrestling. I would have loved to see Punk go to AEW and help that company compete giving them even more firepower. Sounds like Acting is his new path and I hope the best for him. I get what Punk was saying about trusting who you work for. I feel like WWE for him is like having been in a long marriage that became abusive to a point where his life was in jeopardy, and in that situation there is no room for fanfare or fond farewells it's GET THE F*** OUT RIGHT NOW.. and so when people are asking him to come back it's like asking him to trust that spouse not to abuse him again and you really can't trust that the company is not going to abuse you again or worse. He's gonna do what he's gonna do so I mean it is a good thing that fans do not forget him b/c of what he gave to the fans and it reminds WWE of their failure and their neglectful behaviors toward him and others, but do not hold a hope that he will return to the ring because it likely will not have a positive outcome.
