This was basically the match that started their mini-feud over the pure title due to the controversial finish, but due to the Feinstein scandal, TNA pulled out of working with ROH for over a year, cutting this story short and instead transitioning it to a feud between Punk and Ricky Steamboat who was the referee in AJ's and Punk's next match, with Punk claiming Steamboat screwed him out of the title in that match.

The point is that this is how you implement the rules as another dimension too the story of the match. Especially when you've got a face vs heel with a grudge. As an extension of the code of honor, it was also useful for adding dimension to matches without build, later on. But this is a great example of how you climax a new championship's tournament.

Couldn't agree with you more it was so weird for them to make their face a heel in this match. Punk was supposed to be the heel, but for some reason they had Styles attack the person ringside who has not interfered in the match once and never did interfere, have him perform an illegal move on Punk, and had the Referee screw Punk several times. So at the end of the match when Punk does his heel stick after losing it didn't feel like a heel stick
