I think they need to make a CM storm trooper XL version. So you can fit a 60mm (wide) reservoir between the motherboard and the HDD/SSD area. Be able to fit 3x140mm/120mm fan on the top and make the the hight of it bigger so you can fit much fatter rads at the top. Also this would make space for two/three more bays at the front without worrying at the two fans in the way. At the bottom be able to fit 1 x140mm/120mm fans without removing the secret compartment.

Very thorough review! If I purchase this case I will likely add a Corsair H100 with push pull with air going out of the case. I will also add 2-120mm fans to the bottom and reinstall the 2.5 inch cage after modifying.

An exciting case with possibilities. One thing I wish CM would have done with the bottom intake below the SSD cage would have been to attach the cage at the back bottom and the fan location on the front so one would be able to have both (like the Silverstone TJ04-e). If I get this case I will have to put the fan in and then rig a bracket on top of the fan to put the SSD cage back in.

This case is awesome. I bought it 8-years ago to build my son's extreme gaming computer. Asus Rogue 4 Black Edition, Intel 4930 CPU with dual fan water-cooled, 500 gig Samsung Pro SSD, 1tb Samsung Evo SSD, 2 4tb hard drives, 16GB Corsair Ram, 2 EVGA 780 Ti video cards, Seasonic 1200 watt power supply. Just upgraded video card and monitor to EVGA 2080 super ftw3 and Asus Pg279q IPS 27" 1440p monitor. Total investment to date $8,800 Canadian.

I would certainly agree that this case is a great compromise for those who are torn between cases like the Phantom 630 and a HAF 932. This seems to be where the best of both of those cases come into one package. Glad I pulled the trigger on one of these, that's for sure. Although I think Newegg recently within the last few months, did start selling the Windowed versions of these.
@Dunkelelf39 жыл бұрын
Robert Morin i also agree.. the best case i ever had.. cm put so much thoughts into this case.. the point about the top fan.. i can't deny or agree cause i threw it out for the h105 rad.. but the one negative point that i found is the fan controller.. it's pulse controlled so basically power on/off.. you can see this if you use led fans.. they blink.. also my fans tend to produce clicking sounds cause of this.. kinda annoying.. but yeah there is a windowed version of this case.. you just loose the ability of putting 2x 120mm fans to the side panel.. also you can buy just the windowed side panel seperated.. and yeah the handle on the top is just awesome.. the case is heavy itself but with stuff in it.. i moved my pc as i moved a couple of weeks ago.. it wasn't fun to carry my computer.. but without handle it would be worse.. nightmare.. but well i think it depends on how much hard drives you put in there.. but with my 4 hdds and 2 ssds + bluray and dvd drive.. it's pretty heavy and even with the handle hard to transport.. don't wanna know how the cosmo 2 with that amount of stuff would be.. but well i think you would need 2 people at last to carry this..

@ilnukeWarr There are 2 or 3 thumbscrews holding the cages in place. One on each side and one on the back if i remember correctly. Unwind them, remove the fan and led cables, and rotate them. Plus the case manual is very detailed its all there.

Three weeks ago I posted a response to the video that I would add a H100 with push/pull exhausting out the top. I would now intake with the same, have 2-120 intakes at the bottom, have the two HDD cage fans intaking from the front and exhausting with a 140mm out the rear. In this situation I really could use a mesh along side the PCI slots in the rear for extra ventilation under positive air pressure (a mesh like the HAF 932).

@xxdominic1 I believe it comes with the two 120mm's in the front, the rear 140mm, and the top 200mm as standard, although as TTl mentions in the video the 200mm is very loud, and I'm planning to replace it with 2x 120's anyway.

Really it comes down to preference. The Trooper is Black, comes with Red LED fans and originally doesn't have a window panel (though I believe you can get them as a secondary option) and the Stryker is White, comes with Blue LED fans and with the Windowed side panel... Other than that, they are pretty much identical.

it depends on what you value more. if you want to keep your system dust free then having more intake fans than exhaust is the best way to do it (as long as intakes have dust filters) however if you opt to have more exhaust fans than intake then you would create negative pressure and would suck air in from all the nooks and crannys in the case but the downside is that along with that air comes dust. personally i always go for positive pressure (more intakes than exhausts)

A push pull is where you have 1 fan pushing air through a water cooling radiator, and another fan on the opposite side pulling air through it.
@80076411 жыл бұрын
Its very interesting what you say about the top fan because I saw another review of this great case and the reviewers, who were coolermaster fanboys by their own admission, said that the worst thing about this case was in fact the back fan which apparently didn't do all that good a job. I'd still have this case though and quickly change the fans for quieter ones though because it is bloody brilliant.
@4thNebula13 жыл бұрын
For some strange reason I love this case. I was able to do a good hands on at the local store. I really want the windowed one. I expect with the window I will have to intake air from the front and bottom. I will be putting the SSD cage back in which will block some bottom air. CM could modify this case similar to the Silverstone TJ04-e and have a home run.
@Dusty59412 жыл бұрын
I think that this case is outstanding, and The only thing wrong with it for me was that there was no side panel window. I'm replacing the noisy roof fan with an H100, so it won't be a problem. The side panel window problem has happily been solved, which i've just discovered over the last couple of days. Hopefully i'll be picking up this case very soon, and as soon as they become available... the windowed side panel will be mine.

Fans pulling at a 80mm rad isn't going to do much, or anything at all. This because the air that gets blown trough the rad fins in a normal setup with the fans underneath the rad is what cools the water. The pulling fans in a push - pull setup are just to take the air out of the case. Also Tom says theres only 60mm free space between the roof of the case and the mobo as well, so no 80mm im afraid
@g4r1513 жыл бұрын
thanks for the respond guys, so based on a couple of youtube user answer and also from some other review sites, i can conclude that a 4 fan, 2 push, 2 pull h100 on the top placement is impossible because the handlebar support is blocking the top 2 fans placement... but still this is a very good case, and a very good video review :)
@potatocats13 жыл бұрын
@Zendicar Depends on what you want to do with it really, mate. I'd recommend this over the HAF X, but that's really only personal preference, along with the ability to put 2x120mm fans on the side panel to cool the gpu's.
@JTMarch8611 жыл бұрын
And it's looks awesome. And just so you guys know, you can fit a 480 rad (4 x 1200) in the front vertically. You just have to get a bracket for the mounting. I've seen it done. The FAQ on the Storm Trooper website says the following: Why is the bottom CM Storm logo plate not attached to the hidden tray? The plate and tray remain separate to allow users to remove the hidden tray to install various watercooling radiators or intake fans at the bottom of the case. If the two were attached, it would leave an empty space when the hidden tray wasn’t installed. So I think it is in fact a feature. Question: Is it actually a good idea to have your intake fans on top? Thanks!

I got Corsair Vengeance ram sticks in my case, which are pretty high. Looking at the room and location of my ram and radiator mounting holes, im 90% sure the rad will touch the ram. One question tho, why would you get such a huge rad and not give it any fans to blow cold air trough it so it can actually do what its designed for? Just putting a H100 in push / pull would be way more efficient.
