Great! Over the weekend, I used my TS601 to correct the TPMS sensor ids in my friend's 2009 Chevy HHR. My friend asked the mechanic he normally takes his car to for maintenance work to fix the TPMS issue. The mechanic didn't even attempt to the fix it. The TS601 was able to scan all of the sensor ids and upload them in less than five minutes.

What did you decide John? I'm in that position right now and I'm more inclined to get just the TS508 purely for TPMS functions cos ive got a Verus for the other stuff this thing does. Still £480 is a lump for a single use tool (TS508).....but Ive heard its the best of all the options out there , even better than Snap-On.

@@turtlezed Hi Turtlezed, hope this note finds you doing well. I went with the 601. I wanted to get the broadest capabilities I could. I have only known a couple of mechanics I felt comfortable with, and a large number whom probably would have difficulties spelling mechanic. I did a lot of research before the purchase, which was prompted by the fact that the Co. which installed the 1st set of TPM's couldn't program them, and told me to take it to the dealer (Nissan Murano). In our family we have several vehicles with the TPMS so while the 601 will only see occasional use, I have no doubt about its capabilities. Another bit of info; if you do your own work you may want to look into Picoscopes. I had a couple of years electronics study, and then about 40yrs. as a Fire/Medic & RN-ED so setting up and interpreting EKG's is easy. With a Pico, same thing set it up, compare with known standards, apply logic. Even if I would use a mechanic, I would never take a vehicle in and just say "it's broken". I think that you'll be satisfied with either Autel unit. I also used their TPM's easy to program. Sadly I had to educate the people at the tire store which did the install, but I'd anticipated that when I showed them the tech sheet they then realized that they did not know everything. I had control, they were compliant. I have ONE Snap-On tool, a small torque wrench, about $275, for working on model aircraft engines. Snap-On is really "proud" of their products. Best wishes to you Sir, on your Autel, and staying healthy.

john swilley thanks john, I can understand you wanting it to do as much as possible for your cash however I think the 508K excels as a standalone tool just for that job alone(as well as checking rf output on yer fobs) so thats what I personally am going to buy today. I am a mechanic and as regards any trade, theres the good, the bad and the ugly across all skill levels, sounds like you’ve come across too many of the latter. Thanks for the quick response.👍

@@turtlezed Turtlezed, no disrespect intended, as you stated there are good and bad in any group; the same is true for emergency services and medical. I've seen several "professionals" kill patients through their ignorance. I have no doubt that the 508 will serve you well. As for my mechanical work (or any other) I dig way too far into what is needed, if I understand the theory, then it may be applied to any situation. Best wishes!

Hi. Can the tool read the ID's if the sensors has zero battery? (the tpms has not been used/replaced for many years but it is still attached to the tyres)
@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 4 жыл бұрын
I believe the answer is no. The scan tool attempts to trigger (wake up) the TPMS sensor and if there's not enough battery power left to power the TPMS sensor, the TPMS sensor won't respond with a reply. It's my understanding that the TPMS sensors will not act like passive RFID tags where the triggering device (in this case the scan tool) would power the sensor's response. The only way to obtain the sensor ID for a sensor with a dead battery is to obtain access the sensor itself inside of the tire/rim and look for the ID info marked/printed on the sensor.

Out of curiosity, my workplace uses an Autel TS508. Not too long ago, I used that to do a TPMS relearn on a Mitsubishi RVR (a.k.a.: Outlander Sport) without any issues. According to the info I included below from the (Autel) maxitpms.com website vehicle coverage lookup tool, it looks like it should support OBD relearn for that vehicle. Hi Hector. I don't speak Spanish, so I hope an English response will still help you. There are online sites that state that the 2013 Tacoma still has a TPMS "Set" button that is used to help reset the pressure settings for the sensors known to the system. 1) Set the tire pressure of all tires to the specified value(s). 2) Turn the ignition switch to ON. 3) Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch for three seconds or more so that the tire pressure warning light blinks three times. 4) Turn the ignition switch OFF. Then it talks about connecting a Toyota Techstream scan tool to verify the pressure values being reported by the TPM wheel sensors. If you have not executed that procedure, you might try that. You could also use the MaxiTPMS 508 to scan/trigger each wheel sensor to see what PSI value its reporting to see if one or more of the sensors are reporting a "low" PSI value that might increase to a legit value after driving for a period of time on the road. Even though they are new sensors, there might be one that is incorrectly reporting that wheel's PSI value. I hope that helps!
@SuperNica68
@SuperNica68 3 жыл бұрын
one sensor shows me 203 kpa and it has 30 psi different from the other 3. 210 kpa. and they have 30 psi.
@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 3 жыл бұрын
That's a fairly small amount of difference overall. The TPMS alert/light should only show if the tire pressure is 25% or more below the cold inflation pressure for the vehicle/wheel/tire size combination or if it detects a problem in the system. The only other thing that comes to mind is that one or more of the sensors might not come out of "sleep" mode as easily as the other sensors. The speed you drive might need to be slightly higher for one of the sensors to wake up the sensor to start transmitting data to the receiver in the Tacoma. You'd have to be able to monitor the real time pressures from the sensors. If the Tacoma can display individual wheel pressures on the instrument panel that would be one way or use the MaxiTPMS 508 to view live pressure values (if supported by that unit).

Sorry to bother you i have a question if you can tell me because Autel site confuse me ,it says[ Notes: 1. Can Only Support Autel MX-Sensors. Other brands can not be supported ] my question is what that means ? not all cars cars have autel sensors .....it could be Renault on Renault NIssan Dacia cars or toyota ,or if i would like to fit an aftermarket brand tpms sensor ...is that mean this tool can not support that? and can not register an aftermarket brand in to the vehicle ecu? hope my message make sence. and how you can register the new sensor on vehicle ecu when the devise has to be connect to obd2 plug ?how you can go arround the tyres to read the sensor when the tool is connecting to the obd plug? i have see the video all the way i hope i got it correct............first you go arround the tyres to read the new sensors if you have change one for example and then you connect to the obd2 plug to register them to the car ecu? is that correct?
@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 Жыл бұрын
The "Can Only Support Autel MX-Sensors" statement refers to the ability of this tool to program the TPMS sensors with ids. If you purchase a different brand's TPMS sensors that must be programmed with ids, then this tool very likely will not be able to program those TPMS sensors with ids. This tool activates all magnetic, frequency and tire deflation triggered sensors using 125KHz continuous or modulated wave signals. It receives both 315MHz and 433MHz signals generated by the TPMS sensors. This makes this tool capable of reading TPMS sensors for virtually all makes/models of cars on the market today. If the vehicle in question must have the TPMS ids uploaded to it using an OBD2 connection, you first scan all of the TPMS sensors to gather their ids. You then connect this tool to the OBD2 port and invoke the function to upload the ids. You don't connect the cable to the OBD2 port until you're ready to upload the ids. This tool has its own internal battery to power it, so that's how you can walk around with it to scan the ids prior to connecting the OBD2.

TS601 is not reading IDs from the car if you have broken sensor. On BMW G30 2019

@RetroCarGuy530 Жыл бұрын
If you have a broken TPM sensor then the triggering method of reading of the ID from the sensor may not work. I just looked on my TS601 and it lists the G30 under the BMW "5 Series" selection and it's listed as "01/2017-06/2021 (433MHz)(G30/G31/G38)". Then in the "Diagnostic" section (upper right icon), there is a "TMPS Diagnostic" selection where I believe you should be able to connect the OBDII cable to your vehicle and read the IDs from the vehicle. I'm not sure if that answered your question, but I thought I would give it a shot. :)

The Autel MaxiTPMS website lookup feature www.maxitpms.com/tpmscms/getCoverage.jspx shows the 2019 BMW 5 Series G30 is an automatic relearn based vehicle. It does not list "OBDII" as a supported method of relearning. The OEM instructions for the release showed an iDrive method and a non-iDrive method. If you've replaced a sensor you should try following the steps listed in the relearn procedure instructions in the TS601. I don't have a 2019 BMW 5 Series G30 to test this on.

@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 3 жыл бұрын
I've never run into this with any other vehicle's TPMS. If it only comes on when your Tacoma is located at your apartment building, there might be a weak signal from one of the sensors that is getting interfered with by some sort of signal in that location (very low probability of this one). If you can leave the Tacoma's ignition "ON" after arriving at the apartment building and connect the MaxiTPMS 508 to see if can find a DTC in the TPMS system (again low chance, but possible). I don't know what else to suggest at this point.
