Very informative video, thank you very much. I was curious, since the tools are automobile manufacturer sensitive does the brand of sensor itself matter? I run a second set of tires and wheels during the winter on my 2016 GMC Canyon and I know the second set of wheels does not have GM sensors in them.
@RetroCarGuy530

It should not matter since any sensor that is working with that vehicle (OEM or aftermarket) must operate in the same manner to work with that vehicle. In my case, the 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV had the OEM sensors in the steel wheels it had on it when I purchased it last year. I then purchased some aftermarket wheels which have Autel sensors in them and these tools work with both the OEM sensors and the Autel sensors. I hope that answers your question.

But drove 45 miles TPS message came on again. Tried to relearn and reset the same tire now can’t get it to work. So am assuming the actual tire sensor 2008 is now defective and tool is not going to reset any more,

Hi do you know how to turn on the learn mode in a 2021 Toyota Prius prime? I was able to initialize the tire pressure in the settings but can not find the learn settings to register the sensors with the Vxdas too. Thanks

Based on what I'm seeing in the 2021 Toyota Prius Prime's owners manual page 616, this type of TPMS triggering tool may not be the method to use to register the TPMS sensor locations after having the tires rotated or sensors replaced. The owners manual "How to initialize the tire pressure warning system" does not clearly define what they're initializing. Is it just clearing any error conditions or is it learning new sensor ids. I'm going to have to suggest you contact your local Toyota service department to ask them how to accomplish the task you're trying with your Prius.

If using a set of winter tires without TPMS sensors, would it be possible to put a new sensor in the spare tire and program each location to that spare, assuming the sensors are constantly sending a signal to a central receiver, and not receivers at each wheel so it would fool the system to think all tires are OK and not show the dash warning light? I have a 2010 Jeep compass I'm thinking of doing this with. I also have a 2015 Buick Enclave with 2 sensors not working. I can get some brand new BH Sens Huf Intellisens UVS7050 sensors for 1/2 price. They apparently are supposed to work on my vehicle. I also have a EL-50448 (just for GM vehicles), and wonder if it would work with these and my OEM sensors?? Thanks.
@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 6 ай бұрын
Each wheel must have its own unique sensor id so the TPM system knows which wheel has what inflation pressure. You wouldn't be able to use the spare tire's sensor id on each wheel position in the TPM system. If the new sensors you're considering purchasing for the 2015 Buick Enclave transmit on the same frequency as the original sensors, then they should work. The triggering tool you have should work with the original sensors and the UVS7050 sensors (if the UVS7050 sensors are truly compatible).

The Ultimate unit states it supports Nissan vehicles, but I cannot find in the 2011 Nissan Rogue owner's manual a process to use a TPM sensor triggering device like this one to have the vehicle relearn where each sensor is located. All of the examples I can find suggest that if you set the tire pressures to their proper cold inflation value and you drive the vehicle above 16 MPH for a short distance it should cause the TPMS instrument panel indicator to go off if everything is functioning in the TPM system. If you've changed the TPM sensors in the wheels, I'm not sure if the Nissan system can automatically pickup the change or if you need to use a scan tool that supports updating the TPMS settings (including sensor ids). I have a video where I use an Autel MaxiTPMS TS601 to update sensor ids. I've used that unit successfully with multiple manufacturer cars. kzbin.info/www/bejne/haqok6SjprR3ftk I'm sorry I cannot give you a 100 percent clear answer, but that's the best I can do with the information I have available.

If using the ultimate version, how would one enter the learn mode on a 2012 Toyota Corolla? Thank you!
@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 10 ай бұрын
There are two things in the 2012 Corolla TPMS system that can be "learned". You can reset the TPMS system so that the current tire pressures are the "expected" cold inflation pressures. The other "learning" that can take place is when you replace the TPMS sensors in the wheels. The owner's manual states that a Toyota service department must update the TPMS system with the new TPMS sensor IDs. You may be able to do that yourself if you have a tool like an Autel MaxiTPMS TS601 (I have a video on my channel about that tool). Some automotive scan tools will allow you to change the stored TPMS IDs as well. If you're simply trying to reset the TPMS system (keeping the same sensor IDs), you won't need a tool like the one in this video (according to the owner's manual). From the 2012 Toyota Corolla Owners Manual: Initializing the tire pressure warning system The tire pressure warning system must be initialized when changing the tire size. When the tire pressure warning system is initialized, the current tire inflation pressure is set as the pressure benchmark. How to initialize the tire pressure warning system STEP 1: Park the vehicle in a safe place and turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch or the engine switch OFF. While the vehicle is moving, initialization is not performed. STEP 2: Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified cold tire inflation pressure level. Make sure to adjust the tire pressure to the specified cold tire inflation pressure level. The tire pressure warning system will operate based on this pressure level. STEP 3: Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with smart key system) or the engine switch to the “ON” position (vehicles without smart key system). STEP 4: Push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the tire pressure warning light blinks slowly 3 times. STEP 5: Vehicles with smart key system: Wait for a few minutes with the IGNITION ON mode, and then turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF. Vehicles without smart key system: Wait for a few minutes with the engine switch in the “ON” position, and then turn the engine switch to the “LOCK” position.

This type of TPMS relearn tool is useful for vehicle that allow you to manually perform a TPM sensor relearn procedure. Not all vehicles support that approach. From what I've been seeing in my quick search for BMW vehicles, is that vehicle has a TPM reset procedure that does not involve individually triggering the TPM sensors at each wheel. I'm not sure this type of tool would be helpful in your vehicle's case. I found a short video showing a TPM reset procedure for BMW vehicles with an iDrive 6 and iDrive 7 system. I hope that helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnzGhH2AjtGgfKc

How to used the ultimate on Kia Soul 2012 ?
@RetroCarGuy530

These type of TPMS triggering tools are useful for vehicles with TPMS system with an interactive relearn procedure. That meaning that you initiate a relearn procedure usually via the driver's instrument panel / switches and then walk around and trigger each wheel's TPM sensor with a tool like the VXDAS Ultimate tool. From what I can find, the 2012 Kia Soul either has an auto learning TPMS or you can use a higher end TPMS tool like my Autel MaxiTPMS TS601 tool (which I've used on our 2017 Kia Soul). That tool triggers the TPM sensors in each wheel and captures their data so you can then connect it to the car's OBD-II port to upload the scanned TPMS ids. I don't believe this tool would be helpful for you with the 2012 Kia Soul.

You press the large white button in the middle/upper portion of the unit with the black antenna pointed at the portion of the rim/tire where the TPMS sensor/valve stem is located on each wheel.

@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 2 жыл бұрын
My video was the actual time at each wheel location. The VXDAS TPMS tools should work with your vehicle. The 2010 Equinox owner's manual page 9-53 states a TPMS diagnostic tool can be used for the "TPMS Sensor Matching Process". An alternative approach is also listed by adjusting the tire pressure at each location once the vehicle has been placed into TPMS sensor matching mode. I also found the following on a TPMS related website for the 2010-2012 Equinox. I hope it helps. WITH STANDARD IGNITION: 1. Apply parking brake. 2. Turn ignition to ON position (engine off) 3. Press the MENU button on the DIC (located on turn signal lever on Camaro and on instrument cluster for all others) until the vehicle's tire pressures are displayed. 4. Press Set/Cir (this button is located at the end of the turn signal lever on Camaro). Vehicle asks Are you sure that you want to relearn? Select Yes. 5. Starting at LF tire, decrease air pressure until horn chirps. Repeat procedure for remaining tires in the following order: RF, RR, and LR. After completing LR tire, horn will sound twice. 6. Turn ignition to OFF position to exit vehicle learn mode. Adjust all tires to pressure listed on tire placard. WITH PUSH-BUTTON START: 1. Press and hold the push button start until the vehicle is in accessory mode. Note: on Cadillac models you will know when you are in accessory mode the Cadillac emblem appears on the DIC. 2. Press the MENU button located on the turn signal lever until VEHICLE INFORMATION MENU is displayed. 3. Once you are in the VEHICLE INFORMATION MENU, use the ^ v on the turn signal level until the DIC displays the vehicle's tire inflation pressure and positions. 4. Press and hold the button located on the end of the turn signal level until Are you sure that you want to relearn? YES or NO is displayed. 5. Use the ^ v on the turn signal lever to highlight YES. Once YES is highlighted, press the button located on the end of the turn signal lever. The horn will chirp, Tire Learning Active will be displayed on the DIC, and the left front turn signal will be illuminated. 6. Beginning with the left front front tire, use a TPMS activation tool to activate the left front sensor. Once the sensor has been activated, the horn will chirp and the right front turn signal will be illuminated. Repeat procedure in the following order, right front sensor, right rear sensor, and finally the left rear sensor. Once the left rear sensor has been activated, the horn will chirp twice. You can then turn the vehicle off to exit learn mode.

Make sure the TPMS relearn tool top is put right at the point in the rim where the valve stem / TPMS sensor is located. Make sure the batteries in the TPMS tool have a good charge level. The "2IN1" tool will deplete the battery charge level if they are left in the unit while its not in use. The three TPMS sensors could have their own internal batteries at a low charge level causing them to fail to respond. If they were working before you rotated tire positions causing you to perform the relearn procedure, then its not too likely to be the TPMS sensor batteries. I've used both tools in this video successfully with a variety of GM vehicles without any problems.

@@RetroCarGuy530 I finally got the other sensors to trigger. The left front and right rear only took one try, but the right front and left rear took 7-8 tries before they would trigger. Not sure if the tool was just putting out a weak signal or what. And I was holding the tool to the sidewall near the valve stem. Seemed to help to hold it close to the edge of the rim, near the bead.

You say you're pressing a learn mode button and your finger is obscured by the steering wheel. Then you say the device is indicating which tire you're calibrating and we can;t see the device display that's supposedly showing that. You go to each tire and do the same operation which is unnecessary -- just say you're doing it again. You talk about what tire inflation sensors do and you could do the same thing in just a few seconds. Nice helpful video otherwise, and easy to fix to make one about three minutes long.

I show an unobstructed view of the learn mode button press when I demo the 2IN1. Since I was doing the same thing when demonstrating the Ultimate tool, it wasn't necessary to show a full view of the button press again. I do not say the device is indicating the which tire's TPMS sensor is to be triggered, I point at/show the front left/right turn signals on the car and in the case of the rear of the vehicle is the rear right/left taillights that are turned on by the relearn procedure by the car, not the device. Each manufacturer's TPMS relearn procedure can be different than the one demonstrated.

@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 6 ай бұрын
In the product listing description it lists "Ford/GM/Jeep/F150/Dodge/Nissan/Honda/Mazda/Subaru" as support vehicles makes. The next question is if your Honda has a user invokable mode to have the TPMS sensor ids learned by triggering each TPMS sensor. It varies by make and model, so check your vehicle's owners manual for the correct procedure to have the vehicle learn new TPMS sensor ids. Some vehicles auto learn the new or repositioned ids by simply driving the vehicle, some use a process to decrease the tire pressure and then reinflating the tire pressure at each wheel and some have you use a tool such as this one.

@@RetroCarGuy530 I have a 2023 Honda ridgeline. And this device does not work.
@RetroCarGuy530
@RetroCarGuy530 6 ай бұрын
Looking at the 2023 Honda Ridgeline owners manual, it appears there is no "reset procedure" to have it relearn TPMS ids and their position by the use of a TPMS sensor triggering device such as this one. The owner manual implies that the vehicle should learn the TPMS info (position) after a few miles of driving. A TPMS sensor triggering device such as this one or similar devices would not be useful for that type of vehicle. This type of device (TPMS sensor triggering/wakeup) is helpful for TPM systems that have a manual reset/relearn procedure that has you enter into a relearn mode and you then need to trigger each TPMS sensor so the TPMS system knows what wheel has what TPMS sensor id. If you change the TPMS sensors in your vehicle's wheels, it may require a TPMS cable scan tool to read the sensor ids and then upload those new sensor ids into the TPM system via the OBD-II port in the vehicle. The approach is to have any new sensors installed in your vehicle's wheels to have their ids cloned from the original sensors being removed from the vehicle. That way the TPMS does not see any difference.
