I recommend getting an upgraded radiator and address the cooling system before u get problems u don’t want. These cruzes are notorious for having cooling system issues. Imagine it with all these extra accessories and upgrades. Good to see ur getting ready to address these issues.
@cmattdabrat
@cmattdabrat 2 жыл бұрын
I hear that. The main issue with the 1.8 is just the plastic hose that goes from the thermostat to the throttle body, which I've eliminated. Aside from that, only issue I've had was just not paying attention to the fact the fan was touching the down pipe, so it wasn't able to run. The stock radiator has been working really well.

Cooling issues have nothing to do with the radiator. It’s the thermostat housing that creates all kinds of issues. Deleting cats and running a larger inter cooler and wrapping the manifold I bet the engine is probably running cooler overall to begin with

You should definitely should wrap the manifold, not just for engine bay temps but also because it directs more heat into the turbo and heat is energy. Possibly also look into getting the manifold ceramic coated inside and out too.

I dunno I had a turbo manifold crack in half on me the minute I wrapped it when unwrapped it was just fine. The wrap trapped in so much heat it was glowing red and actually almost started the wrap on fire. Turbo make so much more heat then na engines.

I have the injection intake , and whatever temp is out side weather, the air temp going in is only 2-3 temps up, compare to other intakes close to the engine gives more than 14-up temps higher than temp outside

Nice! I've seen those and they look like a good setup. I believe those actually have the air filter in the wheel well right? Which I've thought about gettin the filter into the wheel well. My only concern is we get heavy flooding in our area more often than I'm comfortable with. Lost a car years ago to a cold air setup that just sucked up water on a rainy day.

@@cmattdabrat yes , since it’s two piece , you can remove one and have the filter safe when it rains, that’s how I found out how my air temps changed. It’s worth it 👌🏻

Hood vents will be dumb if u want the car to stay cooler under the hood have the radiator fan on a timer so it runs for a few minutes to keep air flowing when the motor is off. Upgrade the battery there is tons of room in the battery tray for a big lithium battery that will run the fan for hours with ignition off.

There are some intake pipes that let you feed the intake Into that hole, then combines with the fog light vent, it’ll give you decent cold air
@cmattdabrat
@cmattdabrat 2 жыл бұрын
You're right about that. I have the stock intake piping which actually runs from the front of the car to that opening. I might just install that as well to get cool air from the upper front of the grill towards the filter.

I'm hoping the WOT box you bought supports pulling timing while activated. I hacked the firmware on my saab to do all that without an external device and when I didn't pull timing it got knock, instead of nuking my timing tables in two step range. I just modified my firmware further to pull timing while 2 step or NLS was activated.
@cmattdabrat
@cmattdabrat 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't support pulling timing. Just an ignition cut. What we'll have to do is pull timing in the area where the two step and no lift shift is activated. We'll see what it likes in those low load areas. Just pull a little at a time to build / hold boost.

Hi Get the fog light part and a 3 inch pipe with a bend up the the opening but do not attach it to the filter or intake pipe in case you run into deep water. Vents for the hood look for a 3.4 twin cam lumina from the 90s they had some Vents in the hoods you may find them in the u pull it yard. For items getting hot 🔥 you may need some heat reflecting tape or ls spark plug boots to cover your wires once the plastic tubing is fixed. As for the plastic push locks & plastic tubing you could go with aluminum tubing once you get all yout lengths correct & maybe able to pull it out as a unit if it's possible. I thought you wrapped the header when you installed it ? I must have missed something. Good progress for sure & dyno tuning is going to be a blast for you. 400 to 440 hp. @ 23 pounds of boost ( this is a lot of boost ) & tq should be 320 to 350 tq. As always just my thoughts & be safe team.

Hey Dave. ATM, I just have a Motion Raceworks single port 12an catch can that vents to atmosphere. Has been working wonders. It's hooked up to the stock PCV from the cam cover. Even at idle you can see it going to work. I'll do a video on it in the future, but it catches all the blow by. Comes out pretty clear and has been working really well. I took that idea from what the guys with the 1.6 VXR's overseas. Rather than routing it back in front of the turbo to burn it back off, which in time just ends up gunking up the entire intake system. I also did away with how the stock throttle body is setup, in which the PCV was setup to pull crankcase pressure from the PCV port behind the throttle body for emissions. I have a LSJ throttle I got from ZZP that does have the provisions for a the PCV, nor the coolant pass through because I don't really need that here in Houston. Rarely reaches freezing during the winter to justify it.

@@cmattdabrat wow that’s some crazy blow by! BTW I’m catching up on everything with your build. That’s why I keep asking questions if you’ve done a video I may not have seen it yet my apologies. But on the volume of boost you’re running did you have to open up your gaps on your piston rings?
@cmattdabrat
@cmattdabrat 2 жыл бұрын
@@davesworld2132 I probably skipped over it just trying to get things buttoned up. I believe I installed it during the time I was working on the custom intake, and intercooler piping. Those were huge tasks vs a 5 minute install lol. But I'll post something on the subject soon to show how well it's been working. Yeah, the rings are gapped for all the boost, and nitros. It'll be interesting to see what it does once on the dyno. I know the ZZP Sonic is a similar setup and you can see the vapors coming out during a WOT pull.

@@davesworld2132 A lot of truth to that. I'll do a video in the future showing the results of the setup. Posting a video of the install without results isn't very interesting to me anyway. Now to show, here's the catch can, and what it's actually doing for the car makes more sense.

I figure you don't want to spend more money on something that may not work out as Well. proving that it will actually take the boost first. My cuz blew his up but he never tooned it. You nailed it. It'll cost $700 for the dyno tune and session. I want to make sure it'll live before hand. I know enough to tune it, but to get an expert that tunes for a living and to use a dyno as a tool to get the most power out of it safely is the end goal. It'll be fun to see what it does. Looking to push it to around 25-28 psi of boost.

Before you chop the hood up give some hinge spacers a shot to see if it's not too terrible to look at. Your engine bay is going to stay filthy with open vents on it. Not to mention if water gets on that wrap it's going to destroy it quick. Great content brother, one of my favorite automotive youtube channels. 👌

If u break the seal between the hood and the wiper cowl all u will smell is oil and crankcase fumes from the breather getting sucked into the HVAC system because your intake is built into the wiper cowl for all the air u beath in the car. You don't have a vacuum on the breather it's just vented to atmosphere so I gautentee your gonna feel sick after awhile breathing your cam covers fumes inside the car.
