We are back with the second installment of our CMC Bike Tours series and this time Jessi is showing off her personal bike, a 1971 Honda CB350 K3 named Lucille. While giving us a walk around of her daily rider she also dives into the back story of why she bought this bike and her future plans. One thing we always advocate for over at Common Motor is how awesome a stock bike can both look and perform. These bikes are still around because of how well built they are so when resurrecting it focus on your mechanical restoration instead of getting caught up in modifications first. This will give you a rock solid platform to ride and find out the changes you want to make but who knows, you might just love it as it is.

In 1971 I was 14 and got a brand new Honda CB 100 for Christmas. Loved that bike. Then I saw the Honda CB 350 and thought that was massive and seemed to be like a Corvette of motorcycles. Still like the look of those 350's. Glad to see the younger generation can appreciate a bike like that and can even work on it. Way to go Jessi... You inspire me. BTW I now ride a 1974 Honda CB450.....

So you guys at Common Motor motivated me to buy an older Honda to tinker with. I've got a 1985 Honda CB 450SC Nighthawk. It truly was a basket case. I've slowly and methodology replaced every bearing on the frame and painted it. Cleaned up the wheels and mounted new tires. Cleaned the internals of the tank and have mostly broken down the mill for rebuild. God, what did I get myself into? I'm so far out of my league. Love to watch your how to vids. I'm afraid I'm at an impasse with the motor 😳. I just don't know what "right" looks like.....what a conundrum.....😒🙄. Thanks for the effort, it makes a difference!

I like to see classics still on the road, good for you getting it running reliably. I've got a Yamaha DT3 on the road, hopefully have my CB360 project finished soon.

I had same bike, year, and color. Did an 18k mile xc trip in ‘79. I had replaced the seat with a seat from a CB 750 for better room for gear and comfort. Camped from it from early Aug thru late Oct, Canada and US, all the nat’l parks, etc. Loved the little thing. Simple, easy to work on, etc. Then I came home, got a job and paid taxes for the rest of my life. Still not sure why ..

Cool bike. I just started riding 2 years ago and ended up with a 1975 Honda CB750 as my first bike. I had been searching Craig's List, Ebay and Cycle Trader for months when a saw the CB750 on Ebay and bid on it. I wanted to find a running vintage bike for under 3 grand that I can learn to do the maintenance and make upgrades on. These old Honda's are great to learn on. There's tons of parts available and lots of great CB related content on line. Perfect for someone who knew nothing about mechanics or motorcycles. My only problem is I've become so obsessed with learning to work on the bike I end up replacing and tinkering with things that probably don't need any attention, simply because I get an itch to do something. I have people in Honda forums and FB groups telling me, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it, man" but I can't help myself. : ) It's all in the name of learning.

Jessie, the Honda's of the 1970's were built to last a long time! I think keeping them as close to stock is the way to go. You have the same style gloves I wore back in the late 70's when riding my CB 450. Nice retro touch! (and thanks for the tip you gave me several months ago on replacing the coils on my CB 450. You were spot on correct. Runs great now. )

Watching your intro I was immediately struck by your handlebars..... See I worked at a Honda shop when the ATC90 first came out and a Bunch of customers HATED the way the bars made them lean forward. So we were replacing the bars with a pull-back type. Those old bars went in a pile.... and that's what reminded me of your bars.... They're identical to the old ATC90 bars.

Rocking bike Jessi! Great job keeping it together and rolling as original as it can be. I had a lot of similar issues with mine, but some extra (semi-catastrophic) damage changed the course of the build for me. Yall at CMC rock, thanks for everything!

Thanks for saving another CB-350 Super-Sport. At least you were intelligent enough to not begin with a Auction-bought, barn-find as mine turned out to be. Lucille sounds great. Thanks for sharing your SS.

Jessi, I have a 1970 cb350 that I bought last November.....We (my nephew and I) have completely redone this bike from the ground up....looks stock but we have installed an m-unit basic and common motors electronic ignition plus all LED lighting and ungraded carburetors ....every nut bolt and washer have been converted to chrome or stainless steel when possible........ currently completing wiring with a few minor parts still to come....should be on the rode in about two weeks.... Oh....never been on a bike as a rider or driver....turned 76 last February and this adventure prompted by many friends with bikes and an itch to give it a try Thanks for your videos....very nice

@@Moonlight-hq3gi 37hp for this 1971 CB350 when new with gravity fill carburators, 2 cyl and points. Why the heck can't a modern one get more than 21hp out of 350cc? The RE 350 gets only 17hp. Heck the old CB250 and Rebel250 got 20 out if 234cc. The new Honda Cub/Trail gets 10hp out of 125

I had a 1971 Honda CL 350 and when I sold it in 1976 I had 73,000 Miles on it. Never used any oil, never smoked, purred like a kitten. I loved that motorcycle. I replaced it with a 1974 Honda CB750 and to this day, I wished I would have kept the CL 350. My CL350 was Blue with the Batman Stripe on it.

Great video. Love the cb350's and the fact that you kept it stock. If you pause at 3:57, does it look like maybe the rear wheel is out of true? Maybe it's just the camera angle but wanted to mention it.
