Can't say I agree as rep with the engineer is all but meaningless given we have to roll each grade anyway. Sure it might save you 1 or 2 grade 1-3 rolls those are so easy I'll trade that for getting to roll a blueprint at home instead. Stupid they even keep rep with the engineer given the new system.

So here is something I have yet to see anyone discuss, nor have I had the materials to spare to test myself... When you upgrade a module from one grade to the other, you do not have to COMPLETELY max out the current grade in order to upgrade to the next tier. For example, I do not have to be at 100% of grade 4, to upgrade to grade 5. My question with that is, if I *do not* go to the 100%, and upgrade, say at 95%, do I lose any potential stats increases?
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
You don't lose a thing - so let's say you do 1 G4 roll and get to 30% of G4 max - and then you're able to roll G5. When you do that first G5 roll you have the same specs as if you maxed out G4 with 4 rolls THEN did the single G5 roll. So in short a G5 roll is a G5 roll is a G5 roll.
@cmdrwraithe18576 жыл бұрын
So then you can flub through G1 through G4, get to G5 and go to 100% and suffer no penalties, right?

Thanks for the truely awesome collection of videos. So much useful info in such short vidoes. I have a question on the number of rolls. I've just unclocked Tod McQuinn and am now unlocking each grade at his station. I had all the materials needed lined up to get to G5 Overcharged multi cannon. But I'm finding I need more rolls than 3 to get past grades 1, 2 and 3. For example I just did two rolls on G3. Then a message came saying Tod has unlocked G4. But the 4 hex icons are still showing padlocks and so I did a third roll. Still showing padlocks, and still stuck on G3, not complete. Now I'm missing materials 'cause I only had enough for 3 rolls and have to go farming again. I didn't have this problem with Farseer. Not sure what I'm doing wrong this time.
@sequoia11713 жыл бұрын
Hey, I just wanted to say that you can add experimental effects to modules after it has been upgraded one tier. I do that often if I don't have enough materials to fully upgrade something so I don't have to return later. I'll just upgrade it to level one and add the experimental and buzz off
@Grzybo934 жыл бұрын
Unlocking engineers is the first thing I wish I had done when I first started playing the game. Especially Felicity Farseer, she's so easy to unlock. I had my first encounter with engineering after 100hrs of gameplay lol. Collecting materials for the upgrades is a bit of grind, but it's *FUN* and allows you to explore a lot of game features, like wake scanning, visiting emission signals, using SRVs and many many more.

I have two questions: 1. Can't you get materials from a Material trader? 2. How do you unlock engineers
@Exigeous4 жыл бұрын
1. You TRADE at a material trader, so you have to have (usually) higher grade materials that you would trade down. See my guide Gathering ANY engineering material on how to get them 2. You mentioned that you don't have to engineer all components to G5. Do you have any examples of when it is unnecessary to engi to G5? I'm asking because I have not done much engineering at all and only under the old system. I haven't touched engineering recently.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
Totally depends on your ship and build. For NPC combat every little bit helps, for PvP combat everything is basically required. Beyond that it's just how much you want to grind for what you want - for example I'd go for a G5 FSD with experimental but maybe only G3 drives - as the QoL difference for FSD makes a big difference given how many jumps we do

I got the game in Dec 2019 after the latest updates. The term "rolling" doesn't mean squat to me.

@@behindthen0thing525 lmao you're being rude to a guy who put effort into a video to help you for free, because you're frustrated at how complex a video game can be. @@WhompingWalrus its not really rude to expect a video called "engineering explained" to help explain engineering, he has a point that if you are new to this you wont know all the terminology and its not explained in the explanation video.
@WhompingWalrus3 жыл бұрын
@@jeffcapes It _is_ rude to be bitterly sarcastic toward the creator because his video didn't meet his specific needs. The video is titled appropriately. "Rolling" isn't a term at-all specific ED's engineering. Nowhere does he advertise the video as though it's going to explain every bit of basic terminology he may use with the 500 simplest words in the English language. If your mother is kind enough to let me have a bit of bread she's baked, and I find the bread to be a bit salty for my tastes, would it be rude of me to backhand her and shout "Good god, woman - is all this salt supposed to be some sort of ritual to bring your dead husband back from the grave? You know what, it's probably for the best that he's dead - that way he doesn't have to taste your god-awful food. Maybe he left on purpose just to avoid the travesty of your cooking night after night"? No, that would be rude. That would be a rude thing to say. The fact that the food's a tad salty for my tastes doesn't mean that it isn't rude just because "I had a point" about her cooking. Criticism can be constructive, but if it isn't posed kindly (or at least not rudely), it's not welcome in most of normal civil society. Being an asshole usually isn't. Video creator put in a lotta work to help people like us out. That's even more reason to be kind to him. Or at least... to not be rude. There was a constructive way to make his point. That wasn't it.
