Thanks for the review. I will be looking for a large monitor for my Mac mini. I was leaning towards the Studio Display. There are many nice perks on this Benq. I really like its hub and ports. I'd like to know if it can switch between inputs to support a second Mac/PC.

I always say just try it out if you can to see if you like it. For me having the 32" is great as I'm not huge on multiple monitors but we are all different. Colors are very good on this but it's a matte screen and the Studio is Glossy so that will make a difference depending on what you need.

I can't afford either right now, but it's good to have choices. I'm moving soon, so I might as well wait. Currently using a portable 16" panel ($100). Connects via single TB cable and it's quite nice. But I agree with you, Craig: I prefer one big panel over multiple displays. Edit: I watched again and I see that it does indeed have input switching. Nice.

I do not get the 4k display craze. I have never seen anyone use them at their native resolution. Everyone's OS does pixel doubling/halving contortion to get the elements on screen to be readable. Typically, making it an effective 1920x1080...just super crisp. All that money for just HD work area. Maybe if all you do is play games and videos...but for regular use...(IMHO) a display with a native 2560x1440 is ideal. Easy to read on, extra real estate, and MUCH lower price. Also explains why Apple went the 5k route. Half of 5k...2560x1440 I got lucky. Scored some sweet 27" 2560x1440 Dell displays before the big price increases. At the time, the BenQ I wanted was $700...got all 3 Dell's with tax and free shipping for $650. They replace 3 30" Apple Cinema Displays.

Some scale better then others and this one does a very good job where I don't even notice it at all. The screen is large and vibrant and a pleasure for getting work done. Also, when you scale it the text can be 2560 x 1440 but when you watch videos and other stuff like that it would still come in as 4K (or design work) if you have it setup correctly.

Apple studio has much smaller screen real estate (27 inch) as compared to 32 inch BenQ. For old man like me, bigger screen real estate is a plus point. Not to mention, I already have Sonos Beam gen2, sub mini, and pair of Era 300 which I believe offer better speaker than Apple Studio, coupled with Insta360 Link. The Thunderbolt 3 in the BenQ is good enough and connected to one of Thunderbolt 4 of Belkin Thunderbolt 4 dock. I’m very pleased with my current setup.
@craigneidel
@craigneidel 2 ай бұрын
I like it but it comes down to if you want a larger screen. The studio display is nice but smaller and this could go on sale also eventually. But I always tell people to just try them out first or have a good return policy and then if you like it keep it. Thanks for watching.

@@yuri.moiseyev no really. Before I switched to BenQ, I had a 38-inch ultrawide LG that was amazing for multitasking-I could have three windows open side-by-side, which really sped up my workflow. I ended up giving it to my son for his projects, so now I'm on this BenQ.

many go on complaining about "only 60Hz".. that's plenty, in most games you're not getting more than 60fps in 4K anyway. (unless you spend silly money on a mad gaming PC and GPU. but these monitors are designed for image quality, not FPS) works like a dream for gaming too. I got the 27" model, exactly the same screen, just a little smaller. (don't have space for a 32" on my desk). perfect for design and gaming.
@craigneidel
@craigneidel Ай бұрын
I agree but I'm not a huge gamer. But for what I do 60 Hz is fine and even the Studio Display is 60 Hz. Overall I tell people get what they need personally, but many people like to tell us what we need when they are different then us. I agree with you and the 60 HZ is fine as long as you know what you are buying and are not gaming 24/7. Thanks for watching.

I didn't look at their QLEDs policy, but gigabyte policy for burn in does NOT cover static elements. So if you do get burn in from static elements (shortcuts, start bar, browser bar, window edges), its NOT covered by warranty. Be sure to read the small print before you bite the bullet so you don't regret it in 2-3 years.

@@craigneidel But no, but we have to stop saying that 60hz is enough for work. I'm in architecture and all day I zoom in and out on my screen. We don't realize it but we do this all the time. I'm fed up with this myth that only gamers have the right to 120hz. These people didn't understand anything. All day long I zoom in and out.
@craigneidel
@craigneidel Ай бұрын
For many 60 Hz is fine with they types of work they do, and I'm sure some Architects are Ok with it. I'm just saying we all have different tolerances and for many 60 Hz is fine. A few years ago it was 100%. I mean I have been using a 5K imac with 60 HZ to create 650 videos and other stuff and I don't even notice it. Maybe if side by side but in everyday work it's more then fine. Yes, it could be better but I really don't notice it at all so I just have a different need is all. But, if you don't like it that's fine to since we all have different needs.
