I was in that business for almost 10 years. Those ladder strings should loosen up with being hung in no time. The weight pulls them down. Looks great! Texas Deb ❤️ ps When you backed up it looks like you have extra slats on the bottom. You can remove some by removing the buttons on the bottom to loosen the ladder strings, pull out the lift string from the ones you don't want. Keep them to replace any broken ones in the future. 😊

I was gonna say same thing. Extra slats kinda bulk up bottom to allow last one to close up. I'd LEAVE at least 2 with weighted bottom. Don't cut off string ladder too short 😬

Glad someone experienced in blinds explained that, I would’ve tried , but it would’ve been the hillbilly version LOL. Yeah, those are Levolor blinds they should shorten easily. He’s got about a 5” stack on the window ledge. ❤

I have those blinds , just different color and mine doesn’t do tht. The folks here have explained it pretty good how to fix it tho, hope ya can figure it out. David, I’m not sure what length windows you will eventually be installing (sorry if I missed it), so maybe this comment doesn’t apply. The length of your blinds can modified. There are plugs on the bottom of the base slat which can be popped out, then you can remove as many slats as you need, then reinstall the plugs. If you do this, you won’t have excess slats stacked on the bottom, and your slats will lie flat when you close the blind-no light at the bottom. Everything is looking so good! You’re doing a great job!

I came here to say the same thing. Shorten your blinds to custom fit your windows. Then, they will operate better to block out the sun at the bottom of the windows. Your windows look fantastic with the new blinds! ❤

I prefer blinds and curtains together. Curtains help with sound, ambience etc, extra insulation when needed. Curtains soften hard walls. Blinds and logs are a lot of lines to look at, too. But you do you! You get to live there! Enjoy all the spaces you are creating! 😊

David its very easy to take the extra slats out. Drop the blind full length. Pop out the two buttons on the underside of the bottom slat. Take it off ,take out the extra slats. Put the bottom slat back at the right height , tuck the excess string back into the holes at the bottom then pop the two buttons back on to secure them back in place. Done ,its easy .😊

David you can shorten the blinds to the proper length. Look on the bottom bar thing at the bottom of the blinds,you should see some plugs ,pop those off, but save them . Next, remove the bar thing, and then you can remove the extra slats . Cut exta srings if want or if needed .Then tuck remaining string in the holes you unpluged ,put plugs back in and whala custom blinds 😊

Totally agree with blinds for visual but curtains are much better in cold temps. While you still know where the hardware is you may want to put it back up and put the curtain rods and curtains where you can find them to put up when it gets cold to block drafts and hold in heat. I bought a blind this week and after it was cut the guy measured to make sure it was exactly as needed. Simple thing to do and would have saved both of your time and Lowe’s and your money! Also I believe you can remove extra slats that are stacked at the bottom so you don’t have that bulk at the bottom.

❤I have blinds and curtains. But you might want to hang on to those curtains when it starts to get really cold. Just saying. Are you replacing those doors? So far looking good. I had a real log home in Ct came out of Vt. I had problems trying to keep all the dust off the logs. But I love my home and wish I had it back. I had a beautiful brick walk around fireplace and a huge burning stove in the basement plus oil furnace. It was so cozy. Two huge bay windows . Anyway you will get your place looking nicer.🤠💯💞✌️🙏👍🌅

To avoid someone looking in as if there is no blinds....... Ground level windows ....turn upward. Upstairs window blinds turn downward.

The fun part with those blinds is that you can remove the excess blind panels to customize the length and they open and close better. It involves cutting the strings that hold the blinds together so be careful and don’t cut too short! Looking good so far though!

Love the blinds. Try tilting them the opposite way and that gap will disappear. In addition, aside from blocking more light, no one will be able to see inside the cabin when the blinds are tilted up instead of down 🙃

If you shorten the blinds the bottom slat will close properly. There are little buttons on the underside that can be popped off then you just snip the cords that hold the blinds to just a bit longer than you want the blinds to hang. After the excess is removed put those cords back into the button and snap the cover back on. Now the excess is gone, the slats will close properly and they no longer look like you bought the wrong size. Hope it works well for you! I’ve done it several times and they look so much better. Plus you don’t have to clean so many slats. That’s a real plus! 😊

You should be able to remove the extra bottom part of the blinds so that they fit the windows better. I haven't done it in years but there should be instructions that came with the blinds. Don't forget, Google is your friend. 😊

If you put in standard size windows, you can get mini blinds closer to the same length, so you don't have so much bulk at the bottom. You got me motivated; I have 4 mini blinds to put in my downstairs unfinished construction, here I go.

If you look at the instructions, you can remove the extra slats in the blinds so they fit better. It is easy to do but do read the instructions as to how. Also, you may wish to keep the drapes to use when it is very cold for extra insulation value.

If you undue the strings at the bottom. You can take the blind out one at a time. That is how you adjust the blinds. Once you get it adjusted then tie the strings up again.

He last slat won’t close all the way because the blinds are too long for the window. You will have to shorten them by removing the extra slats, cut the excess ladder strings and then reattach the bottom anchor. Not easy to do with these new blinds. Hope your plan includes finishing the ceiling. Cabin looks very nice.

DAVID, to get the blinds so they don't let in the light and to keep peeping toms from looking in do the following. Turn the stick so the edge that is closest to you is in the up position. You have them all with the inside edge down.

David you canget the blinds at the bottom to be shorter by removing the excess ... So it fits the bottom of the window since it's recessed. Check your instructions it shows you how to shorten them
