If each station requires 2 kbps BW only, and total BW allowed is 2Mbps, then why only 1000 stations are allowed? I mean, each station is asking for the bandwidth alone (i.e. at a time only one station is utilising the link) in TDM, then why there is a limitation on the number of stations connected ?
@akashsinha56118 жыл бұрын
Because Time is divided among stations for using the line. If BW of line is 2Mbps, then that 2Mbps is used by a single station for only 1/Nth of a second. So the BW for that device will become (bits transmitted)/total time. Hence it is 1/Nth of the total bandwidth. Hope you understand.

hi Akash, correct my solution If I am wrong? As mentioned by you BW for a device = (bits transmitted)/total time so, BW for a device = (x bits/1 secs) considering in 1 second, x bits are transmitted. 2 Kbps = x/1 Then BW given = (Total bits transmitted by all device/total time) = 2 Mbps BW = (sum of bits transmitted by all devices/total time) = ( x1 + x2 + .... + xn)/(1 secs) n * 2 Kbps = 2 Mbps Hence, n = 1000

Why Tp is not part of useful time? As it is the time when the data packets are present in the link and is being transmitted to destination( worst possible case)?
@vivekjain68544 жыл бұрын
10:20 why N is not infinite? because only one station can use link.

Why we are seeing effective bandwidth? In bandwidth allotted to a channel, it'll transmit the data which includes total time to transmit data i.e. both transmission time and propagation time and propagation time is time which is reducing effective bandwidth. So according to me it should be BW = 4mbps N x 2kbps = 4mbps N = 2000 So 2000 stations should be there. Because 2000 stations will transmit data at 2kbps then 4mbps BW is required out of which 50% is inefficient as 50% time is wasted in propagation. Correct me if I'm Wrong..

at 10:12 sir how could be the value of n is 100 n*2 kbps=2mbps {1 mbps=2^10 kbps) so n=1024

when it comes to counting 1kb=10^3 and 1mb=10^6 when it is data 1KB=2^10 and 1MB=2^20.

@@BikashSingh-ze4ny Whats the meaning of the formula ? Is what I'm asking. Why Effective bw ? At a point of time, only 1 station is going to utilise it, so it may just use the whole bw. Theres no clear explanation of this formula anywhere, although I know it holds cause sir just told it. But, the context and meaning is not clear. And everyone explaining this, it seems they're just talking about bw, but I'm concerned about the whole formula.

@@sword013 you are right, in Tdm the user gets full bandwidth of the channel in particular time slot. Bandwidth is divided in Fdm

@9:31 If all the stations are using the link individually, then won't they have access to whole 2Mbps at once ??? What am i missing here??
@grajeshbharadwaj5 жыл бұрын
you are right. But I think because we are having 1000 stations and everyone is using 2mbps only for a fixed slot and remained ideal when other stations are in use, on average it goes back to 2mbps/1000 = 2kbps.
