CNA Skill #11 Give the Resident a Back Rub (Massage)

Hey Everyone! Always remember to review your American Red Cross packet while watching these videos. If you haven't read the packet yet please do so because it explains what the evaluators are expecting to see, and it also answer a lot of questions you may have for the state test.
PLEASE NOTE:
For this particular skill ideally gloves are not required when giving a back rub due to dignity. For the state test please pay attention to the scenario on the card. If the card identifies the resident as having a rash or wound then you can use gloves for infection control. If the resident has nothing going on with them you do not use gloves.

Hi! yes I tested in California at one of the red crosses in the city of Commerce, my 3 skills were skill #2 to put on a and remove gown and gloves, skill #11 give a resident a back rub and also #25 assist the resident in walking using a safety belt.

+andrea ramirez Hi andrea. Did the back rub skill have a scenario attached to where you had to account for the resident having something wrong with them and use gloves? Also, for walking using the gait belt was your resident laying in bed or already sitting on the side of the bed?, and for skill #2 was there an additional added to your skill where you had to put on other PPE equipment other then the gown & gloves? For example, having to also put the face mask or eye protection?

Hi, I'll try to answer these questions as best as I can well on skill #11 give the resident of back rub the scenario did not state something was wrong with them.. but I did use gloves and stated I put them on just for safety procedures and also explain like what could be wrong that's why I would put on gloves. And as for skill #25 assist the resident in walking using a safety belt, my residence was lying in bed. For skill #2 no face masks or eye protection was needed it was just gown & gloves.
