Got my first ever air purifiers last month, a Philips 2000i & then a 3000i ,the later also filters gases & I'm impressed with both! My asthma is improved, dust build up has reduced markedly & considering I have budgies in the house & for small birds they produce a lot of feather dander so these purifiers seem to be doing a great job.

1. I have a air purifier with a hepa filter and it works. 2. Don't get a water vacuum. They're heavier and can grow mold. 3. Get a hepa bagged vacuum with sealed system and a hepa post motor filter. 4. Open windows and sliding doors even slightly (you don't need to let all your ac out) when vacuuming and cooking and be sure to turn on exhaust fans in kitchens and bathrooms. A little ventilation does a lot of good.

We use same testing procedures for environmental monitoring in pharma clean rooms. An air purifier may be enough for most people, if you're not extremely nit picky with these things. However, the air won't be truly clean with an air purifier for a couple reasons: 1. To be as clean as clean room, the pressure has to be high inside the room, and it forms like a strong pocket of air which acts like a bubble...it bumps off particles from the outside. This is something homes won't be able to do, nor feasible to apply. 2. Your body is constantly shedding skin or other particles, and most of dust is actually made up of that. In a clean room, this is mitigated from wearing whole body suits, masks and other coveralls. Pharma clean rooms have to change in another room with different pressure to bump off particles, before going into main clean room. In semiconductor fabs and other electronic factory clean rooms, the worker has to go through a walkway where there is a air stream to brush off any other particles prior to entering the clean room. You must do the same procedures when exiting, to ensure no other particles enter when you leave the main clean room.

Some of the particles are too heavy to be airborne, thus the air purifier mostly unable to pick it up. Example hair, dead skin or animal's fur. The best way is to clean it often. And also always make sure that your home is having a good ventilation all around.

Don't simply go with any of the HEPA filter. You should consider buying H13 or H14, rest are not worth to buy. Pores of H13 is 0.3 micron and H14 is 0.1 micron. Don't simply buy any HEPA filter because older versions can only contain up to 95%. H13 and H14 can go up to 99.97% as per the rating. Since I'm living in Delhi, both are not very useful here as per the peoples usage review.

yes but before consider one, get a reputable vacuum cleaner with hepa filtration for daily cleaning. it takes out majority of the indoor particles while cleaning at the same time. absurd thing about most air purifiers as they are usually passive, releasing the clean air haphazardly throughout the room whereas it should be directed to a person so that the advantages is immediate and efficient. Dyson has a product that address this but is rather too small and too expensive.

Its much better than having 100% dusty air in the room, it does works but in a confine room with nothing, (lab test) But definitely not in a normal room with humans who also contribute to pollutions with our dead cells. As the lady enters the room, she too brought in a bunch of fine dusts from the outsides which may affect the test itself so, something you should also consider.

Conclusion- air purifiers are just glorified fans. Unless you remove the source of the pollutants, in which case you didn't need a purifier anyway, they don't address the cause of the problem.

UVC will not have any effect in cleaning and sanitizing your filter per se. It require sufficient exposure, both time & intensity to kill germs, which is not what is happening when all the germs are hidden well inside the fibrous media of the HEPA filter. Also, HEPA filter is just that, HEPA filter, all kind of other ultra hepa, HEPA silent, etc are all marketing gimmicks.

There are quite a few useful tips in this program. The tip to reduce mold growth in air conditioner is useful. The best indicator of mold growth is to look at the blower in the air conditioner. It is good for household members who sneeze or cough occasionally to carry a handkerchief. The best way to prevent the spread the virus is to stop it at the mouth and nose. My kids typically would just put a hankerchief at the table near them when studying or dining. We rarely pass illness to other household members.

I got a Xaomi Pro air purifier about 2 months ago, it has HEPA filter as recommended and I change it once a month. And let me tell you guys, it made a HUGE difference in indoor air quality. I suffer from atopic dermatitis and dust particles would make my skin flare up all the time, I also live in an extremely polluted city and oppening windows is a big no no. Since using the air purifier the amount of dust in my house has drastically gone down, before it would take only a day and you can see visible layer of dust on surfaces especially glass desks, after the filter has been on for 8h a day it now takes 6-7 days for the same amount of dust to collect. In general it is also so much easier to breathe in the house now and I dont feel sleepy or nauseated as much any more. If you can, get a HEPA air purifier as soon as possible and you will drastically improve your life quality.

Is indoor sweeping any better or worse when it comes to those dust particles (linking to that vacuum concern). 🤔
@headerahelix
@headerahelix 2 жыл бұрын
Much worse because there's nothing to contain the dust at all. Good, sealed vacuums come with HEPA filters so the only way the air gets out is through the filter.

Air from outside is polluted in the winter months of Southeast Asia so can't really open the windows during those months. Wish we could. Air conditioning certainly is bad too. Someone gotta stop burning the fields, that alone would do us all some good.

They should have just asked Jufri if he used cleaners on the room before the presenter came. And perhaps he needs to replace the cleaner with something less chemical. HEPA replacement filters are very expensive and probably create a lot of waste.

You can close some window and place a fan facing outward just like in the program. This will push the indoor air out and cause outdoor from somewhere else to be drawn in. Think about how you can create the desired air flow. Air always flow from a region of high pressure to low pressure. A primary limitation will be from the outdoor wind direction.

I just moved into an apartment with the same issue. I used to always have a window open. But another tenant insists on smoking on her patio. I get her stench in my place. I have only 2 windows, both facing where she smokes. It's so selfish that she smokes outside to avoid stinking up her own place.

Oh Boy, where to start?😑 1) When Joey re-entered the room by opening the door - she completely invalidated the entire test as she brought new contaminated air into the room with her and she created a draft as well. She should have taken the "After" test levels while remaining in the room. Opening the door literally sucks some of the air outside the room and introduces outside air into the room... I cannot believe they did that! 2) There are hundreds of different air purifiers on the market and you can't determine if they are helpful (Nor how helpful they can be) by only using one brand and model. There are much better solutions out there than the unit they tested. 3) Joey was only testing down to 2.5 microns but that only accounts for 1% of all the particles in the air and it only accounts for the larger LESS HARMFUL particles, as well. 4) Ventilation can sometimes/oftentimes be a very bad idea depending on the air quality outside your home. It fluctuates so opening the windows is not a magic cure-all by any stretch of the imagination.

Chose this because apparently the filter can last for about 3 years, covers an area of abt 85sqm and creates abt 300m2 of clean air. 2 years warranty.) there's another German brand called Cosco but Ive never heard of it and it gives 5 years warranty, with medical grade filter. Was a tough choice between those 2. Here's another useful link if anyone needs, CBC Marketplace air purifier comparison kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zqa9fHWirLF4fNU
