She’s not referring to actual trucks being sold, but rather the number of players and their planned figures in the truck space. I don’t know what the numbers would look like, but one way we can check is look at the “20%” of total car sales that are trucks and compare that to the total number of all the trucks planned to be made by all the electric truck makers. If the latter makes up a higher number, then there would indeed be a larger supply of planned trucks than people are expected to buy or the demand, assuming the truck sales/owners are consistent.

@aperkins073 жыл бұрын
Way ahead of legacy manufacturers? Uh.. in what? It certainly isn’t sales, not even close. Technology, perhaps, but I’d argue that’s negligible if technology is advancing rapidly, everyone has access to it, and legacy autos have more than enough money to buy and hire to make the same strides at quicker speeds as the technology gets better. Pretty sure only a few of these startups will last in the long run before they either swallow each other up or get bought out by bigger companies

Truly hope Tesla makes a variant that will fit in my garage, pre order is in. Love the fact that I have time to save money to hopefully buy it cash or finance 25% of the cost. Solar panels and powerwalls were done 1 year and 1/2 ago, with the 500 plus mile range I won't have to pay for charging unless we go on extremely long drives. The cybertruck is not the body style I prefer but the overall specs are just awesome. The Tesla factory coming to Texas is just icing on the cake, I will be able to pick up my car when its built and take it for 200 mile test drive home. GO TESLA!

The reason Tesla are making the Cybertuck is because battery costs are dropping enough to make them profitable. Pick ups are boxy, high road clearance and heavy. All these things means a massive increase in battery size for the pick up compared to a sedan with the same range.

It’s great to see more companies to go electric now! Tesla has really made them hurry up or get left behind
@adamfarrell93693 жыл бұрын
This comment thread gets it. If you want the traditional pickup truck look its Rivian. For all others Cybertruck. Lordstown Endurance is an oxymoron given its limited range although I think they may sell some before cybertruck really ramps up and makes the truck uncompetitive on specs. GM has CGI and a ‘Nikola’ style hidden plug prototype. Price is pretty ridiculous on the Hummer and doubt GM plans to sell more than a few thousand of them anyways (mostly for showroom bait and switch). Also the big boys don’t have the battery supply chain to produce high volume of their uncompetitive vehicles even if there was demand. Love the end of the video glossing over how they are all too expensive showing the prices for about 1.5s so you don’t notice the cybertruck more than $10,000 under the next cheapest offering.lol. Most ICE pickup trucks cost well over 40,000 and with decent trim packages are on par with the dual motor cybertruck.
