In fact, Korean men who don't do skincare are looked down upon and are seen as dirty and lazy. Male skincare is such a common societal norm in Korea that you'll hear middle school boys discussing amongst each other the kinds of facial wash and toners they use.

윤현우 👏👏👏👏and Koreans value their good skin n realize the importance of maintaining it. While Americans have damaged their skin with excessive tanning over the years and not using sun screen. In 70’s n 80’s having a nice tan was essential to looking good with little regard to damage to your skin. Americans uncovered to get sun while Koreans covered up to avoid it.

Hyun Min my point is against western style of recklessly branding... reason for I refuse to name such brands... for example: lets say madonna might be clueless about dermatology during all her career but then “she” comes out tomorrow with some overpriced skincare products and then a bunch of people will just go buy it because of the name related to it... not because of its ingredients... just because Madonna’s name is in the bottle....so people end up buying the name... not the product/results... I did that mistake years ago... a bunch of those products u will find at sephora... they created a hole in my wallet XD. Nowadays, I spend less than $18 for a product that actually fixes my problem. Yes... the package might look cheap, and the shipping takes more than a week...but it actually works! So...I will just keep buying the korean stuff simply because it works better for my face and my wallet.

Overthemoon I’m glad you’re wanting to take care of your skin because of the boys and I hope for you to have a beautiful complexion as well 😁 also if aging is the problem then I suggest you stay away from products with alcohol. Cleansers and exfoliators are fine I believe, but it’s best to stay away from toners and moisturizers with alcohol since it makes your skin age faster. Also recommended serums and a nice sunscreen for protection 💖

The only choice for aha used to be paulas choice and before i discovered cosrx it would sting my face so bad。 it would be harder to find innovative ingredients with 90% snail extracts and centella in an average american pharmacy imo. The idea of pushing extra hydration is a korean thing. I once only traveled with a skin care oil but because i didnt have my toners and serums my face was so parched under the oil.

It’s simply because Asians especially S. Korea care about their skincare products. They invest in a lot of natural ingredients instead of using harsh chemicals most of the time like the US. It’s not like the US don’t do the same, but it seem their concern is more about the money than care of the human body...

Hungarians were concentrating on good skincare and knew the importance of taking care of your skin for a long time. Usually a Hungarian woman has her trusted beautician who takes care of her skin, whom she visits regularly and is a friend as well. Going to your beautician is like visiting your club/spa. The best products are made in Hungary and plant or thermal water based and do not contain preservatives hence they are kept in the fridge and well, cannot be exported. The most famous is of course the Ilcsi product line. I came to the United States in 87 first and was appalled to see American women having blemished really not attractive skin and covering it up with heavy plasterlike makeup which most of the time didn’t even match their skin tone. Today they have much better skin but still spend more money on their nails than on their facials. In Korea from what I have seen is it is more a dermatologist whom you go to see if you want clean skin of even just to take care of a pimple. In Hungary your beautician will do that for you. They perform minor surgeries as cool as a cucumber. Needless to say dermatologists do all kinds of wonders for your skin there but well, those are more medical procedures. What gets me is the eyebrow thing in Korea. Apparently they color their hair but for some reason do not get their eyebrows shaped and tinted by a professional. Instead there is a whole wide selection of eyebrow pencils and shadows and tints and mascaras with which they try to match their eyebrows to their hair color. I am not even going to mention here what Americans do: color their hair but not their eyebrows so they look like wearing a wig. Especially men with dark brown hair and gray eyebrows is a sight that is killing me. But back to S. Korea: they also shave their eyebrows instead of plucking or waxing them. I don’t have to tell you that a shaved thing is always stubbly (see waxed legs versus shaved legs) so they need to cover it up with loads of concealer. In Hungary we have our eyebrows shaped by our beautician who plucks or waxes and tints it along with our eyelashes and then for a month we forget about it because it is always perfect. We have been waxing our bodies as well since like forever. So no South Korea didn’t invent the wheel. What they have is strong ambition and a smart business sense and the ability to evolve incredibly fast. A cutthroat local competition drives its international evolution and spread. Their products are very good and reasonably priced. I use and adore SK cosmetic products but whenever I go to Budapest my next day - sometimes same day - visit is to my old beautician. Other European country that are similar to Hungary in this respect and that I know of: Romania. Interestingly not France.

I have hormonal acne and Korean skin care products helped me a lot over the past few years. I get a pimple here and there from time to time but it's not as worse as it been some years ago. Their products are free of many dangerous stuff and I prefer investing more in skin care than makeup. They also make stuff which are not animal tested and the packaging is made from recycled materials inked with soy ink. Prices range a lot as they also have top brands and there are many drugs store type. Even if some didnt worked for my skin it didn't made things worse at least. You just need to find what goes well with your skin type. And their skin care routines are the best. I hope Koreans will keep doing good stuff.

Nothing has been better for my skin than prescription retinol and then clean beauty. Korean skincare is very affordable and effective. I tried a 10 step and it was nice. But using the retinol and clean beauty without silicones, dyes, alcohol and fragrance has changed my skin. Its pricy but Drunk Elephant hits it all. Virgin Marula Oil clears and hydrates your skin. Legit GLOW. Then at night the TLC night serum with AHA and not synthetics is incredible. I use on opposite nights of retinol. All I need in the day is sunscreen (clean). I work with brands on product development and packaging and what we put on our skin gets into our bloodstream. There are numerous options for beautiful skin not just K Beauty. Its genius marketing. Many Koreans still use European skincare. Its what works for you.

The skin care is very important not only for the social media, for bussines world too, because it representes a new market and life style in whinch the companies need to dream up more products. In South Korea’s case this increase his exportations as a result of his popularity. Others brands want to get more information about that, however they need to visit this Asian Country or create agreement with Koreans companies (this actions augment the International Trade); the skin care go on with power, that means more innovation on the products, because everybody like natural products and goods results in our skins.

I'm not sure if anyone else commented this, but they forgot a huge chunk of how K-beauty exploded in the market - Kpop and the Korean wave. It's because of fans interested in how idols take care of their skin on top of all these idols endorsing these brands that fans buy up all these products. Then, all those fans introduce K-beauty to their non Kpop friends and it spreads; especially since most K-beauty products do indeed work and show results.

Three things you actually need to do with your skin to keep it looking great. 1. Cleanse (so use makeup remover, whatever form, even if you’re only wearing sun cream) 2. Moisturise (self-explanatory. But you don’t need to go overboard and have 10 products. One good moisturiser will suffice) 3. Protect (i.e. wear sun cream NO MATTER WHAT. Even when it’s cloudy in the bleak mid-winter, wear some sun protection).
