Pay the extra $11, lol. Picking your seat is such a relief. I always go for windows and except for the time I too nicely let an obese couple have the window and middle seats (okay, I'm no model myself but i wasn't as big as them), I've always gotten the window seat when allowed to choose my preference. Also, never again am I ever letting someone have that precious spot if I got it because the aisle seat was way too uncomfortable. Better than the middle but still.

Well according this video business travelers only count for 5% of total passanger but contribute 30% of total revenue, so many airlines actually make only 15-25% profit from their operations so, economy passanger is not actually making airlines money, but just important to cover the cost, profit only come if business travelers come on board.
@lextacy2008

@@fadrium1464 Interesting. What we are seeing here is the rich, who typically get free stuff, subsidize economy, who in which flies less than the free stuff crowd. I like this model because it allows anyone to fly, but does not penalize passengers because they only fly once a year.

There's a different video showing the actual math behind this. It it's simplicity business class and first class that truly make money. Economy/economy plus/premium (however you want to call not being a sardine for more than 4 hrs) really cover base costs. Of course if you book early enough most seats end up being pretty cheap.

Stefan Travis depends on which airline, and your definition of first class. If it’s the american definition of first class, the rest of the world calls that business class. Air travel in the US is pretty crap compared to the rest of the world. First class can be pretty luxurious. My favourite first class is SWISS. Their amenities include La Prairie ( a VERY expensive brand) Laurent-Perrier champagne, Evian skincare products, and a lot more. The only airlines I can think that do a crap first class are Air China, American Airlines (they use the same seat as Qatar biz for their first class?) and Air India.

However, the new program met with some bad PR, so it was suspended.

“First Class” on international flights has skyrocketed in price to $10,000-$30,000 On big body jets like the A380 and 747, you may get a private cabin with a bed in addition to what you get in Business class. While a Business class flight still exceeds $4000 - $7000, it’s probably the more economical way to fly if you have flights exceeding 7 hours. That’s the ONLY WAY I fly since I need the space. + on demand drinking + on demand food + lay flat seating + Lounge access and specialized treatment make it worth the price.

I got the upgrade of all upgrades. I was about 14 years old flying from DCA to Phx via CLE aboard a continental 737-700. At Cleveland a flight attendant approached me and said she had a mother and son flying together that were not sitting together and she was wondering if I was willing to give up my seat so they could sit together. She said she had a seat for me "up front in the first row" if I could. I said sure and proceeded to the first row (behind the first class bulkhead) still in the economy section and sat diwn. A few minutes later she came by and said "oh no sweety I meant the very first row...." I must have looked like a deer in headlights because she said the words nice and clear..."IN FIRST CLASS!" 😳🤯😵 It would turn out it wasn't just the seat they gave me....I got the whole experience. Warm towels, warm snacking nuts, a pesto pasta with hot roll and ice cream Sundae. Of course served with silver ware. They baked cookies about 40 mins before landing just for us.....it was amazing it was 4.5 hours of bliss I even remember the inflight movie on my own personal screen ....(which was only in First class back then. The back had the screens that folded down from underneath the overhead luggage racks).anyways the movie was Bicentennial Man with the late Robin Williams....Best flight EVER!!!

Most companies are developing virtual meetings with product such as (but not limited to) Halo Lens, MS Teams, Skype, etc., The new business model will be to ensure internal resources can work whenever faster, and when collaborative inspiration strikes. Air travel takes time, hotel cost, food, internal travel (cabs, subway, bus) to name a few. These cost will typically be passed along to the clients driving the product cost up which to be competitive isn't a good thing. While this isn't the overall issues for the business class trip airlines should review their designs to make it more appealing for all travelers because the future need to rely on the business person may be in jeopardy.

The profit per passenger of First Class is normally enough to support the concept even in the face of some empty seats. One thing that puzzles me: Boeing could easily design a wall that could be slid to expand the main cabin, depending upon the demand of 1st and economy class. There are some flights where it's a ghost town up front. If on those flights they could recover 4 to 8 seats and sell them economy in the expanded economy cabin, that would get maximum revenue.

I've taken the Emirates flight first class from Dubai to LA a couple of times and their business class also. I have to say, the first class is pretty awesome and the business is the best I've tried. This last flight they had the floor to ceiling sliding suite doors and the previous time the doors only went up about 3/4 of the way. I had the caviar but nobody told me it was unlimited so I only had one serving. I did drink my weight in Dom Perignon though! Don't even get me started about the first class lounge in Dubai! I did it all using miles. I don't know how much longer they will honor them but I will continue to enjoy the lifestyle until they don't. It's hard to believe that is a government owned airline.

At my company most flights are economy. They would upgrade to business class if flying internationally for 12hours+ or if federal project 14hours+. But, there is no option to upgrade to first Class on the company/client expense.

Just 1 question. Why do people pay for first class when they can just pay for a private jet flight?

Its probably way more expensive than a first class flight

Getting a ticket on a flight is a lot less involved then chartering an entire plane, that’s what assistants are for.

10:12 wow. First class seats are only 10 percent of the entire plane, and the difference in revenue is 4 billion to 6 billion. Thats fairly small difference if you think about it. So they are making exponentially more off those first class seats, and that's even if you use your points off regular seats.

I've been lucky enough to fly first in Emirates a few times. Ive also flown first on Etihad and Qantas, but non compared with the Emirates Suites. However business has dropped its bundle on Emirates.
