nhlakanipho zondi In my opinion before we can even think of “new education systems” wahtever they may be we have to think “functional education systems”.I am a retired education specialist. The focus of the ANC since it got into power was to get a “new revolutionary curriculum”. The problem on the ground was that most schools for the poor were dysfunctional or not optimally functional. What is the use of a “new revolutionary system “ on “dysfuntional schools? The problems we had in 1994 still remain today. Of course we still speak “new revolutionary curricula”. Really?

While university students put their heads in the clouds on cryptocurrencies, digital program and marketing while sitting in comfortable offices looking at their social media on the latest mobile phones, who actually is going to make something? Are you going to buy everything from China or lower cost labor markets? Who will run your utilities or will electricity and water flow out because it is suppose to. Who will fix things that don't work? Diagnose electrical controls, hydraulics, broken parts, timing. While your sitting on an airplane with 200 others, who will repair a critical device that permits the pilots to fly? And I not even talking about the airports baggage system that automatically routes your bag from one airline gate to another so you can arrive to make your presentation with a clean dress or a shave. Before many of you readers were born, I marveled at the German apprentice system that brought non-university youth through a program that would insure the bearing industry would have a stream of workers that could develop and produce bearings of all sizes and configurations to perform the requirements of modern day needs. We no longer ride in wagons.
