James Girvan RaleighLink14 look her up and learn about the abuse and lack of care the goes on in the racing Industry. Also do you know why they take horses off the trace after a few years? IT’S BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BREED THE HORSE BEFORE IT LITERALY RUNS ITS LEGS OFF!!! It makes me sick to think that people can still support the Racing industry. And if horses don’t want to be forced to race then why do jockeys carry whips also why are you so many jockeys shock there horses out of the gate.
@Danny-yn8dc5 жыл бұрын
I know jockeys, some trainers and met a few owners. They all absolutely love their horses. Not because they give money, but because they just love horses. In America they are all drugged and unvaccinated, while in the UK there are strict rules about the caring of the horses. The whips in Europe do not hurt the horses, they are used as a “tap”. They are trained to know what that tapping and waving means. Just try find any picture of any race horse that looks unhealthy, unhappy or with scars because you won’t. The unhappiest they would get is in the stalls ready to start, and that is because of lack of experience. I hate people saying this is animal abusr because the people in the industry could not care more about them, and their main priority is for them to finish the race and get back, which is why sometimes they are pulled up mid-race if the jockey feels the horse is not ok or cannot finish. Some rules in racing include it, and also include unnecessary use of the whip (which is a fine and suspension for the jockey), dangerous use of the whip (if the whip is used very near another horses face or body) or exceeding limits of the horse (keep riding the horse and showing the whip when the horse is clearly not able to finish or is tired).

Every owner and trainer try’s so hard to keep them out of the slaughter house but their are some people which unfortunately do it and the are shamed upon. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of the people calling this abuse have never been to a racetrack let alone the backside of the racetrack. You could argue whether or not its humane but abuse is far from the way these animals are treated. This is an industry with regulations like any other. These animals are pampered considering the amount of money the owner pays the trainer. Every race morning the Vet comes to the barn to see that the horses that will run that day are looking in top shape. The slightest indication of anything bothering the horse and the horse wouldn't be able to run. The horses are also checked a second time that same day right before loading into the starting gate. And then a 3rd examination by the vet occurs post race. I'm not arguing that there aren't bad people who have done terrible things to horses. I remember reading an article on google about a farm who's owners abandoned their horses and they were found starving to death some time later. That's abuse. Horse racing isn't.

I’m not saying I know shit about horse racing, but there is proof that it’s cruel. And, I do know, since I am a horse rider myself, (even though I’m not saying I’m “qualified” because of this) that making the horses do all of this running, especially at a young age, is really bad for the horse.

Thorobreds have a very Short shelf life and off to the killers they go. Famous big money racers earning millions have ended up on the killing room floor. How’s that for loyalty to an animal who served his master well? One reason the dog racing and horse racing industries are getting phased out is that neither had a consistent and humane “exit strategy” for their animals. Greyhounds end up abandoned, sold for medical research, dog pounds, coyote hunters or shot. Frankly it would be better to humanely euthanize them - death is not the worst thing that can happen to an animal. Race fans will never see it any other way. They are blinded by competition. Working animals are fine. But understand you are long overdue for positive public relations. Don’t be alarmed when the General Public doesn’t agree with you. I’ve worked dog tracks and have owned ex-racers dogs and horses. These animals get a raw deal.

I am an ex jockey and in my humble opinion Black Cavier was the best (they all raced over different distances so hard to gauge times etc..but BLACK CAVIER had a host of issues physically and the was brilliantly trained by Peter Moody who kept her sound enough to do what she did...and that in itself deserves extremely high praise.

Also, related to the no-A.I. issue, is when Stallion owners are so money hungry that they subject their stallions to airplane flights in order to transport them to the opposite hemisphere of the globe so the stud can cover more mares. You can pick up a good thoroughbred a dime a dozen, nurse them back to health and start them on a new career. All for the price of their meat. Might sound harsh, but it's true. So many people in the racing industry take their horses to kill buyers because they were "disappointed" in them. Not to say all do it, but a huge percentage of them do. He had a minor injury to the forelock on one leg and I was told by the vet to onlywalk him, but walk him a fairly long distance, with a pressure sock on him. "Blue" and I loved each other. His owner paid me to care for him, and when it was cold winter, I put his tack on him and decided to ride him, although an inexperienced , very basic rider.Everything was going great until he say a low hedge and suddenly galloped to clear it easily. I went mad at Blue. Took him immediately back to his stable. (no fancy riding kit - rode with my full motorcycle kit on). He knew he'd been a bad boy. He got fed and groomed for a week, but not let out, which he'd never experienced. Put the tack on him again and he was a lamb. Nice walking, into the trot and then the slow canter. Can do that, but never tried to gallop or jump ever again with me. What he did with his hated owner is another story. The business of horse racing reminds me of "puppy mills". Everyone wants the next super stud, so who cares if the horse only stays healthy enough to race for just five years. We could double the racing careers if we demanded that all competition horses "must" compete without any form of hoof protection. Almost everyone in the medical field know that most of the health problems are rooted in hoof care, but it doesn't fit into their business model to push for change. You see for the medical professional it's more profitable to correct a torn tendon or ligament, for the owner's we've made it more profitable to put it out to stud. In other equine sports it is because of ignorance, in Tb racing it is intentional kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZfRiGaEgdCfedk Look around my channel and see the transformations that are possible when we help the hoof perform as nature intended.

Reverse_Thoughts are you really serious? You believe that? Use ‘em up. Buy another. Horse racing owners aren’t in it to take exceptional care of their investments. It’s to expensive. Sort term fast gain is key. Cash flow is key. Vets are expensive and only the best of farms really use them to prolong the life of their horses. Taking good care of racing animals is a good way to go broke. Puppy mills are the same - sell pups while they’re cute. Breed the kennel breeders until they can’t. Putting vet care into them is not making money. Once they can no longer make money for the mill owner off they go for the one way walk over the hill. The Amish are notorious puppy mill operators. Believe me. They don’t feed anything that doesn’t make them money. The number of horses that make it to a good home after their race career is low. The number that get sent to the killers is much higher. They have to wring one more dollar out of the animal by selling it to the killers.

He was a great horse but you can't say he was the best. He only raced two years and flopped as a sire.
