Maruti Suzuki will not just launch the electric Vitara this year but will also launch an electric vehicle ecosystem. The company is trying to ensure that there is a charging point within a 5-10 km radius of every e-Vitara buyer, fast chargers in 100+ cities and mobile service vans in case your car breaks down. Parikshit Luthra spoke to Partho Banerjee Head of Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki.

They are talking about a revolution , but i think charging needs to be interchargeable too and should be available in all existing petrol pumps, that itself will boost infra.

@@commieTerminator Yes but track record of many dealers have been very bad, especially chargers at volvo, merc and BMW showrooms, luxury brands only allow same brand cars at their charger as it is inside their own premises

@@atulmalhotra2303 petrol companies dont have anything even on themselves let alone maruti having anything. petrol pump owner themselves shut down the mcb of the chargers in petrol pumps to show it as offline as ev owner, i have been denied air filling at dozens of petrol pumps even if I am ready to pay the guy at air filling station

Petrol pumps are the worst places to charge. Plus conflict of interest with oil companies. Ideal places are good food courts with clean washrooms

This gentleman clearly hasn't bought or lived with an EV before. Without a dedicated parking place to charge... nobody should buy an EV. AC charging is a must. 99% public charging is DC fast charging which isnt recommended for daily use. You need fast chargers on highway food courts...not in showrooms. AC chargers are required in apartments, hospitals, schools etc.

BEVs price in par with ICE, then only it will come to the mainstream. Now the Li price is the lowest. Also this infra is cross compatible? Need standard charging for all Brands.

A very vital issue with the location identification of charging station is, it should be displayed with a big bold indication (EV charging available here) like the fuel bunkers (indian oil, bharat petroleum and like wise) displayed so the ev driver don't have to search the app while driving. Hope you take up this suggestion.

Why all the EV’s have different charging points. Why not standardize as charging stations for any EV. This is the first thing they should be doing. Secondly, lithium battery EVs are still not worth any money. Should wait for better batttey tech

Moste of their light weight cars do only need smaller motor and batteries. 40kw batter can be charged from 20%-80% under 30min. Maruthi will play kithne dethe hai USP in their electric vehicle too😂

It takes years to build out a robust public charging infrastructure, especially centered around DC fast chargers. Tesla took more than a decade to build out its Supercharger network in the U.S. Only now it has reached a level where it's super easy to find those dispensers. Expanding charging requires a close cooperation between site hosts, charging companies, utilities and local jurisdictions that give out permits. While Maruti's approach sounds good, it's going to take a lot longer than one year to reach a charger density which is like within 5-10 km. And we know how bureaucratic India is, and how slow local govts move with permits.

Neither Tata nor Mahindra talk about this.. They're launching fancy products but miss the very basic point. For ages I have been telling.. An OEM needs to have a first party charging infrastructure if they are serious about EV game. Tata had Kickstart in EVs but did nothing considerable in this space all these years . Soon they will lose the market to Maruti. And other OEMs still wonder why they can't beat Maruti

How will the company profit, if charging cost is less service cost is less, then the company by setting up charging stations how will company benefit, will the company keep charging cost low, after sales service low is the company doing charity in the long run ev cost of maintaining will be equivalent to ICE engines including battery replacement, ev motor repair and replacement cost, charging cost
